My family and I have been here NUMEROUS times and we always spend LARGE amounts of money. Never ever have we had a bad experience with them until today. Ordered last Wednesday 2/17 and my mother picked the order up. She thought the total sounded wrong, but we always spend at least $60 even for just two people, so she didn’t think much of it. Typically they pull the food out to check it before you leave, but I’m not sure if they were just busy or didn’t do it because of COVID, but she left without it being checked. At another stop, she realized we were missing two items and an order that was supposed to be a kids portion was actually a large. Not even twenty minutes later she was in a horrible car accident and is extremely lucky that she is even still here. She noticed later, at the hospital, that the restaurant had tried to call her multiple times, she assumed it was because of the missing food and we didn’t get to call them back until today - obviously that’s not what was at the forefront of our minds with her broken wrist, broken rib, and sprained ankle. EXTREMELY disappointed in the way management handled it when we called back. First, she read off an order that we had placed weeks ago. We told her that was the wrong order and she read it about 4 more times as we were telling her it wasn’t right. She was aware that we were missing items, which is why they had tried to call us, and we explained that one of the items was the wrong size and we were charged for the larger one. She said she had to call us back when she spoke to someone that had been working that night. She called back two hours later and asked what day the order was placed. We told her (again) and she said the other order was from a different date and basically told me I should have corrected her. I had told her multiple times that it was the wrong order she was reading off to me, she never told me what date that order was from, and I had told her it was last Wednesday that we were calling about. If she had been listening to me instead of interrupting me, maybe she would have caught that. She read off the actual order from the 17th, then told me she needed to call me back so she could go find that order. I responded with “But you just had it pulled up because you just read it off to me?” She said yes, but I have to call you back. Then she said she had to find out who it was that was working that night because she had the wrong date at first. I told her I wasn’t sure what it mattered, asked if she was the manager (yes), and that I just wanted to be refunded for what we were missing and the large portion we received that they put in wrong. She said she couldn’t refund us for the wrong size meal because we took it and we paid for it (?) and she had to call me back because she didn’t know what was going on with the order (when I had already explained exactly what happened) and then she hung up on me. What should have been a simple refund turned into three separate phone calls with nothing but interruptions and the manager speaking over me. When I said something to her about interrupting me, she said “Because I don’t want to hear the same story over and over.” Which she didn’t because she kept talking over me, I never got to finish what I was saying. We EXPLAINED the car accident and how we weren’t even sure what all exactly may have been wrong with the order since the food never made it home and she had the nerve to ask if we still had the receipt (maybe gasoline soaked in the totaled car at the tow lot). She was very rude and really needs to better her communications with customers. I have worked in a restaurant and I am a very firm believer that the customer is NOT always right. But this was very simple, black and white and it was made into a very huge ordeal because she wouldn’t just listen. She finally called a third time to issue the refund for the missing items and after she confirmed it she said “sorry about that, bye” and promptly hung up. I’m an extremely nice, forgiving, and patient person, and she had me cussin on the phone. So...
Read moreAVOID this place. Take the time to read the negative reviews because they are not wrong. Absolutely the worst dining experience I've had in my life and no I'm not exaggerating. I'm not one to write reviews or even complain. I normally just tell myself welp this sucked won't do this again but due to the incredibly rude tone and actions of Manager Tiffany, I feel compelled to share my experience and vent a little in hopes that whomever may read this will choose NOT to support this local business. A business that seems to have animosity towards Americans. This review may seem long but it's a nutshell of what happened this past Saturday.
The food was terrible. We placed a pick up order as we have done in the past with no issue. We got it home, opened it up to find soggy messes of our entire order which was half wrong. We did not order onions to go on top of our food nor did the description in the menu state that there would be any. We scraped away what we could only to find that the chicken either had a weird pop in your mouth or you couldn't even bite it.
I decided to call the restaurant to find a resolve since we had paid so much for our order. The Manager, Tiffany asked me what was wrong with the food but refused to listen and would speak over me. I asked her politely, mam please stop speaking over me so I can explain. Because she would not listen and kept proclaiming how it had been an hour since we picked up our food as her only justification, I hung up on her, packed up the food that was at least 90% still there and warm and drove to the restaurant. The hostess immediately got Tiffany and she came walking out in an agitated manner with a raised tone of voice asking us what was wrong where we once again tried to answer and she would not let us speak as she continued to try to justify that an hour had passed and that the food was soggy because of the liquid from the vegetables. All the while she and another worker pulled out the entire order to inspect it and shaking it in the air. She kept saying I remake your order and we were like no mam we don't want you to remake the order and we go in circles with her until finally she says you want refund and we say yes, please and she snatches the card from my husband as she continues to yip yap and say how she doesn't want customers like us yadda yadda and we assured her we would never be back. She caused a scene in front of the entire restaurant all because they served a bad order. I have never had a public altercation in my life so congratulations Tiffany your my first. Tiffany is such a miserable person. I will send nothing but good will towards her in hopes she can become a...
Read moreIf you set the bar higher than “satisfying generic takeout,” then finding good Chinese food in Greensboro is no easy task. To that end, Phoenix Asian Cuisine is a welcome change of pace, both in terms of ambiance and menu selection. It’s also quite a bit costlier than ubiquitous takeout fare, and for the money charged, the food falls a bit short of expectations.
Phoenix is nicely appointed with dark woods and a distinctive tapestry-like paint scheme above the bar area. The menu is deep and varied, offering everything from soups and salads to vegetarian, chicken, beef, pork, and seafood dishes to sushi to chef’s signature dishes featuring duck and lamb. Thai curries and Vietnamese noodles hobnob with familiar Chinese favorites like lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. There are also a few dishes not often found elsewhere, such as sweet and spicy walnut chicken.
For our first visit, my wife and I went with steamed potstickers, Singapore noodles, and the aforementioned walnut chicken. The potstickers were good: they avoided the gumminess that ruins other versions. The walnut chicken was sweet but not cloyingly so, and the candied walnuts were a nice touch. The Singapore noodles were fragrant and tasty enough though a bit underseasoned. Service was polite albeit a bit harried: an order of sake was initially forgotten though the oversight was quickly remedied when pointed out.
Pricing, unfortunately, is very nearly Phoenix’s undoing. The walnut chicken came out to $15.50 and the Singapore noodles ran $13. In the case of the latter, better versions are available elsewhere for several dollars less. Portion sizes were certainly adequate though not large enough to justify the money charged.
Were either the food elevated or the prices lowered, Phoenix would be a must for anyone seeking good Chinese cuisine. Instead, it comes across as a more authentic, non-corporate P.F. Changs, offering food that is well above takeout grade in classy digs while still leaving you wondering if it was really worth...
