UPDATE 12/3/21. What a gorgeous day to sit outside! We chose the outside patio with umbrellas. Kennedy timed everything perfectly, remembered the extra ranch, kept our drinks full and was very accommodating. I asked if I could have the Red Goat Chicken (red pepper jelly, goat cheese and bacon) sandwich but with a burger in lieu of chicken. She said no problem without batting an eye. It was delicious! We started with the Hot Buffalo Shrimp app and it was phenomenal ! The shrimp were huge, crispy and tender. I wish the tails had been removed. Hubs got the Bacon Cheeseburger and really enjoyed it. We both had the burgers cooked medium and they were spot on. The fries were a little dark for my preference and they weren’t crispy. I’d get a different side next time. Still love this place!!
My friend and I went here for first time on Saturday evening. They have two outside patios. One is completely open with umbrellas and one is under roof but open air due to large garage style doors that they roll up. Great idea! Both are non smoking so Yay! Our server was Samantha and she could not have more accommodating! She gave us samples of their house made chicken salad. It was delicious!! Just shredded chicken, mayo and seasoning. No onions or pickle relish, so another Yay! We were torn between the chicken salad and the California salad so we said we would just share. Samantha had them split both dishes in the back and there was no extra charge. I've NEVER had that happen. She gave us two dressings. The balsamic was my friend's favorite and I loved the orange dressing. It was so light and fresh!! The live music was setting up, including a full drum set. We left before they started because we felt it would be too loud to talk. They have TONS of big TVs for the sports fan. I will definitely be back for the service, food and under roof patio seating. All staff seemed attentive and all the food I saw looked great.
3/30/24 A beautiful day and patio seating at Rody’s Tavern, never disappoints! Tried new items: Housemade Southwestern Spring rolls DELISH, Fried Shrimp Tacos with pineapple pico in grilled flour tortillas, Jalapeño Burger and of course the Tots! Great flavors on everything. Great service!
10/30/24 I’ve reviewed Rody’s plenty but I tried something new. Rody’s Tavern Burger with bacon, stout sauce, cheddar, fried onions on a PRETZEL bun. Delish! We split that and the steak and cheese. We also took dry rub wings home for dinner that night. Aubrie provided...
Read moreEdit: I notice many of the less-than-positive reviews here revolve around masks. To this I give an eye-roll. If you consider yourself "at risk", you shouldn't be dining out anyway. I appreciate the fact that Rody's does not take the hype too seriously. This review has NOTHING to do with COVID and focuses primarily on customer service.
This place is always hit-or-miss. The food is always good. Service is another story. I've left several times in the past due to poor/non-existant service at the bar. One recent occasion went something like this: I sat at the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender rightfully asked if I would like a menu. I said yes, please and began perusing. After I closed my menu (which we all know is international sign language for "I'd like to order some food, please."), the bartender never asked me if I wanted to order or what I'd like. In the meantime, a seemingly "regular" (very rude) patron sat next to me. He ordered a drink, got a menu, ordered his food, and received a side salad all before I finished my 1 (and ONLY) beer. I left $5 on the bar for my beer and left. The host staff tried to apologize and offered to take my order, which was nice, but this isn't the point. This review is for all the people who sometimes eat alone, appreciate good service, and tip well. Solo diners are often ignored, which is why I choose to sit at the bar vs. a table. Rody's bartenders ignore the solo guy at the bar. The only time I've received good service is from the more experienced daytime bartender (forgive me forgetting her name...30s-ish, tattoos, very personable and friendly) or if I'm with "regulars". I won't be bringing the family again in the foreseeable future.
Fast forward a few months...I tried ordering take-out. The website said they're open and online ordering was available, so I ordered take-out. I gave my info, my card was charged and the order was placed. 10 minutes later I received and email (no call, no text, but an email) that said basically they're not making my food (no reason given), and my card will be refunded in a few business days. I did include a 15% tip even for take-out on my order.
Rody's, if you're gonna stop making food before your closing time, then change your damn closing time. I'm done trying to give this business my money. You've fooled me more than twice, so this is on me this time,...
Read moreI'm a big believer in giving businesses praise when they do well, but also leaving factual information for other prospective patrons when they fall short. This is unfortunately one of the latter experiences. My wife, son, and I literally just got home from visiting Rody's for the first time since the new ownership took over. We previously enjoyed Rody's on a frequent basis, as it was a family favorite, and were excited to finally get to enjoy it again.
Upon arrival, we were seated nearly immediately, which was great. Our server, Taylor, greeted us and was fantastic throughout the visit. This review is in no way a reflection on her at all, as she could not have been any better.
Our issue is solely with the manager, Kevin.
My wife and I have enjoyed a particular brew of beer for more than a decade. Not finding anything on the draft list we would prefer more, we ordered two drafts of said beer. Upon taking literally our first sip, we immediately informed Taylor that either it was the wrong beer, or that it had either turned or that the lines required cleaning. (I have kegs of beer at home, and am well-versed on what both conditions taste like.) Taylor (our server) informed us that she would need to speak with her manager, Kevin, before she could remove the beer charge from our check. To our surprise, she came back only to inform us that her manager (Kevin) relayed that because they had been poured, he was unable/unwilling to remove the charge from our bill. He supported his argument with stating that: "I can't put the beers back", and also "I didn't make the beer". No, I'm not kidding. Keep in mind that my wife and I had just a single sip, no exaggeration. (See pictures of both the beers and the check for reference.) Frustrated, we all did our best to enjoy the food, but it too was subpar. My son, who normally can't get full being a teenager, ate only half of his meal due to the poor quality.
We love supporting small businesses, but sadly, we will not be back...
