This is my first review of any restaurant or business, and I hate it is a negative one. However, today was my first day on the UNCG campus, or anywhere near the campus area for that matter. I drove around for at least 10 minutes trying to find the visitors parking area (only saw one sign that showed the direction of where it was but no other signs after that). I pulled into this parking lot to pull up a campus map and check my emails - literally was not there more than 10 minutes. A gentleman came to my window and pointed at the 30 min sign continuously beginning from about 35 ft from my vehicle and continued doing so until he came to my drivers window. When he spoke to me, he was incredibly rude and condescending as if I couldn’t read, and only asked if I was “pinging someone” then followed with telling me it was his parking lot and I needed to leave. I explained I was checking my emails and literally had just pulled in. What he didn’t know was I was also checking my lunch options on the campus map while it was pulled up on my phone as it was right at 11. As the sign, that I very well could read said, 30 min parking for customers. I needed lunch, they sell food, and I would be there less than 30 mins. With the current pandemic and seeing that I was literally the only customer car in the parking lot, chasing away guests is not the route a locally owned business should go. Though this place would have had my business, there is not a chance at all that will ever happen...

This place definitely gives off the "hole in the wall" vibe. But, that can definitely be welcoming. I'm a big fan of good ol' Southern hotdogs and this place has em'! Their dogs & chili were great. Some things I didn't expect though was their size. They're quite a popular establishment and placed right dead center of UNCG campus, making them a prime location even during non-peak hours. It was quite hectic getting in to order and finding a place to sit... I'd like to note, I didn't base my rating off their structural handicap. One thing that put me off greatly was their Cash Only policy... To be a campus restaurant in 2018, this came as quite a surprise. I had to use the ATM outside which malfunctioned and charges you $2.50... With their main customer base being young adults with new technology (I.E. Apple pay, Google pay, etc) you'd think they could afford the upgrade to better payment options. Also, they don't serve fries or fountain drinks, only 20oz sodas and bag chips. Which, I didn't mind but I was somewhat expecting the styrofoam cup fountain soda and crinkle fries. I would recommend a visit on an off day just before or after lunch, and don't...
Read moreThe prices they charge are not the ones reflected on the menu. Not sure why this is so difficult to change. Staff acted surprised and just laughed when I asked how I was supposed to know a price change when it’s not on the board and no one told me. Been going here for many years and have not been very impressed since the management change.
Since I can’t respond to the owner below. I asked for a pint of a common flavor (that is almost always in pints and listed on board as 4.00) and the girl at the counter said they were out but that she could hand pack it for me (no mention of upcharge and price is not on the board). After she had packed it I was charged 5.50 for the pint and asked why? She said it was the same as a large cup, but the menu board list a large cup as 4.35. Again the workers had no response and just said that’s the price of packed pint. If I had known this I would have just ordered a large cup (more ice cream for less). The failure to list proper prices and communicate them to customers is a fail of this business and the failure to acknowledge this mistake in their reply is an even more...
