Tate Street Coffee is a small coffee shop in an historic part of Greensboro. They have a wide variety of coffee, tea, smoothies and menu items. The coffee shop has some seating in the back of the coffee shop that can accommodate one or more in a party Enjoyed a very good cup of coffee and pastries. I ended up with a Parisienne (w/o liquor :)) - which was such a great choice. Really enjoyed the roast flavor of the bean and subtle hint of sweetness. The other drink was a normal latte; again, great roast flavor. The pastries we got were so good. We got the vegan glorious morning and lemon poppy seed muffin -- and let me say this: don't leave Tate Street Coffee without trying one of these. They are incredibly most, packed full of flavor. The two staff members we encountered on the weekend visits were so helpful. You see, we can get traditional coffees but I was looking for something unique, different and a blend that I can't find in other coffee shops - which is where the staff came in. They helped explain some of the drinks and offer up what flavors I'd taste. The staff really brought the experience.

I recently moved to the area and had the chance to visit this amazing place yesterday. I ordered a decaf coffee because it was late and it was good. I was hungry so I asked the Barista what she would recommend. Both baristas were helpful, friendly and nice. The coffee shop aside from a big variety of coffee, it offer pastries, sandwiches, frozen lemonades, and wine. While I was there, the wifi was not working well. However, a jazz band starter playing and the place was packed within minutes. I saw a women painting, two guys plating chess, two men reading their books, people on their computers and all were enjoying this surprisingly big place. It is right beside UNCH, which was very convenient for me. I highly recommend this place. If you want to enjoy a glass of wine with a jazz band playing in the background, if you want to work on your homework, or if you want to share a cup of coffee with your friends… this is definitely the place to go.

As an African American female student at UNCG I was racially profiled and told to leave the establishment because I was waiting solo on my tutor friend. I was alone on my laptop and was addressed rudely by a Tall male worker. I wasn’t given an opportunity to let him know I was waiting on a friend to order and he kept insisting that I order in that moment or leave..without her arriving . I would not recommend this shop or its service. I will not be returning. Also I was told and I quote “You can’t just come out and hang out and use our WiFi” before knowing my situation This shop doesn’t feel like a staple in Greensboro, very unwelcoming .

I’m a regular customer at Tate Street coffee house, I usually order my coffee and head out the door. Today I was planning on ordering my coffee and finishing up around 30 min of homework. The line was long and the guy in front of me in the line walked straight in and started working on his laptop. So, I followed and did the same thing with the intention of ordering my coffee once the line got shorter because I had an assignment due soon. From the moment I sat down I noticed an older gentleman in a Tate Street coffee house shirt, which I assume to be one of the owners continuously walking back and forth in front of my table staring at me as he did so. In attempt to make me feel uncomfortable! After a while of this he walked up to me and said in an extremely derogatory tone, “have you been helped”? Which I then explain that I have yet to place my order. He then continued by saying I cannot sit in the coffee shop if I had not order anything in the same derogatory tone! I understand this policy, but you cannot pick and choose when you would like to enforce your policies. It was extremely upsetting seeing another white man doing the exact same thing as me and not be publicly humiliated for it. I think it was interesting that he chose the only black hijabi female in the coffee shop to enforce his policies on. I have seen multiple reviews that all follow the same story line. I really think it’s time this coffee shop incorporates diversity and inclusion training with all their employees...
