Lovely chic restaurant with flavorful food! The wait staff was great, the dinner food was prepared well, and we loved the ambience.
Food:
For starters, my husband and I shared the house salad w/balsamic vinaigrette, golden raisins & sliced almonds & feta cheese ($8), and the seared scallops w/carrot ginger puree & maple butter sauce ($10)-- both great. My husband really enjoyed his pineapple mint ginger mocktail as well ($4).
For main entrees, we had the grilled pork tenderloin (nice and tender) w/ cardamom sweet potato mash ($22), and the C+S burger (juicy & thick) with Swiss cheese & bacon aioli & mushroom onion jam (I usually don't like mushrooms but this was really good) and fries w/house made ketchup, which tasted sorta like a fusion of ketchup & Carolina BBQ sauce ($12).
For dessert we had both the chocolate creme brulee w/pistachio brittle-- great smooth custard & crispy caramelized top ($9), and the bread pudding w/candied pecans-- just right-- moist but not soggy w/fantastic flavor ($8). Both were terrific!
Atmosphere & Misc:
The owners did a table touch to make sure everything was going well & tasting great, and were both warm & professional.
We got there on the earlier side of dinnertime, so it wasn't crowded & the other parties there at the time opted for outdoor seating. I really loved the interior, the mix of tables w/chairs & soft seating options, soft upbeat music, and the nice air conditioning, so we stayed indoors. Each table had a succulent, tea candle, and neat dinnerware, too.
There are two unisex bathrooms with barn doors, which is both trendy & great for accessibility (no stalls w/ swinging doors). Both were nice & clean.
All in all, a highly recommended local coffee...
Read moreMy husband I went to Coffee + Spice for a lunch date this afternoon. I first came across this gem on Facebook and then had a friend recommend. Ya'll, if I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Greenville NEEDED somewhere like Coffee + Spice, and this family has knocked it out of the park! Our drinks were unique and delicious. My husband enjoyed a freshly steeped loose-leaf black tea and I had my first ever bissap. We got 2 entrees and shared with each other. He had the chicken and cornmeal waffle and I enjoyed the fried catfish and grits. Ya'll, they were both so unique and truly felt "special." While the food was amazing, I'd go back for the service and atmosphere alone. The staff have an admirable work ethic and are so friendly. You can tell there was so much pride taken in the design and construction of this space. They were so detail-oriented and it came together so beautifully. We look forward to more meals on their patio!
For those of you that are still a bit covid-wary, this joint is the place for you! The staff not only wore masks, but they did so appropriately. The patio was well-spaced. We saw the staff wipe down tables between patrons. My husband and I first decided to give C+S a try because of the outdoor seating option, but now we know we have much, much more to look forward to the next time we go!
Ya'll, run, don't walk to...
Read moreCoffee + Spice is an amazing spot! Today was my first time visiting and I loved the look and feel of it. It's a beautiful space that is beautifully decorated. The menu has alot of dishes that sounded great and I will absolutely he back to try them.
I asked our waiter for his recommendations for drinks. He told me the hot chocolate is made from scratch and is his favorite so I gave it a try. It was absolutely the richest and best hot chocolate I've ever had. It also stayed hot while waiting for my food and until I finished it. That was nice and unexpected. My husband had hot maple vanilla latte. He liked it.
I had the omlet and a side of bacon. I LOVED it. I loved the greens and mushrooms. The bacon was also very tasty, it didn't taste like regular bacon. It was a little sweeter and had a deeper flavor than average bacon. The slices were also wider than I expected. My husband had the steak and eggs. He loved how his steak was cooked, he ordered medium rare.
The waiter, waitress, manager, literally everyone we interacted with was very friendly. I look forward to going back and highly recommend everyone give it a try. I will say it is NOT just a regular breakfast place. That's what I loved about it. The food seemed healthier and fresher than most other places and it wasn't just plain...
