Gold Post Cafe Inc — Restaurant in Greenville

I recently visited the Gold Post Cafe' with my godfather, who swore that the fried fish plate was the best thing going on Greenville, on Friday's. In hindsight, I think his opinion, elevated my expectations, which may have been unfair to this local eatery. I was intrigued by the eclectic decor and greeted by warm friendly staff, which gave me the feeling that I was about to have a meal that tasted almost as good as my mother's, if not better. I was so anxious that I started eating as soon as we got our hot plates of fried fish and sides to the car. I nibbled on the fish, which was ABSOLUTELY DIVINE, and scooped out a some coleslaw, and shoveled it greedily between my lips. When I crunched down on the metal object between my teeth, I was a little frightened that somehow, some strange object was in my food! I removed it and looked down to see something that resembled the pour spout from a salt container had been mixed into the coleslaw and inadvertently wound up in my mouth. Even though, the hostess apologized and gave me a new portion of the same slaw, I really wanted a refund 😒. It was difficult for me to maintain the same desire for my meal after that level of disappointment. I ordered the Fish Platter which was $9, pretty reasonable, considering the taste and portions. The food was great! I usually dont eat the backs of fish (silvery gray side)🤢 bc of the fishiness. However; their fish is seasoned so well there is no fishy after taste even if you accidently ate a back portion as I did😄 . Always glad to see you, incredibly low prices, great food, good (too rare) events, can't beat Saturday brunch, Friday Fish Fry, and hopefully soon other days and choices such as broiled fish.
