Great social atmosphere with varying clientele where meeting new people is not complicated by cliques. The clientele is mostly middle aged clientele, mixed with some young professionals, all from very different backgrounds, social preferences, and interests. Most feel very comfortable to be themselves here because of a sense of acceptance that is palpable almost immediately upon entry. This atmosphere embraces the many differences inherent to a group of people, as opposed to adopting a critical, judgemental attitude toward variances. The bartenders are awesome, very personable and quick to learn your name and drink preference. The bar's owner is also very present and involved. He makes every attempt to know those that choose to spend their nightlife outings at the GasLight. This also propagates the aforementioned welcoming atmosphere that differentiates the Gaslight from other choices for nightlife activity. One immediately gets a sense that the owner is grateful for your patronage. The prices are very competitive with varying drink specials always showcased among the ever-present $1 jello shot. Everyone is welcomed, no MATTER the night that you choose to visit. However, each day of the week, in an effort to demonstrate the open atmosphere for all people, the owner and staff have established themes for each night of the week. Went here last night on a Sunday for drinks since our friend was moving, and although the place is cute, I was NOT happy with the service. The woman behind the bar charged me $18 when I closed, and I asked her why did she charge me for 6 drinks when I only got 4? It was $3 house liquor night. Her response? “Sweetie, you had 6. You probably don’t remember.” I was stunned. I was not drunk, and I know that my 103 pound self would be on the ground rolling after that many gin and tonics. Needless to say, I signed off on it and left. Thennn when I check my bank account, I see where she charged me $10 plus the $18 and then I assume since I pointed out her overcharging me, refunded me $10. Yet, kept my $18. If I could give no stars I would. Paid 60 dollars for 4 "early bird" tickets to an event. The event was canceled and I was never refunded. Decided to give the bar a try in person to see if it was at least a decent place. The.most.disgusting bar I've ever been to. The tall barback gave me the absolute creeps and the place was covered in a layer of grime. I was double charged for my one single drink as I paid cash to close my tab (I opened one thinking I'd be there for a bit) and my card was OVERcharged. Got a 6 dollar drink with a 2 dollar tip. Paid 8 in cash. Got charged 16 on my card.
