Ladies and gentlemen, its dad again and let me tell you about my recent visit to Runway Park in Greenville, South Carolina. This park is a true gem for aviation enthusiasts, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking for a unique experience.
The first thing that caught my attention was the airplanes flying overhead. Runway Park is located next to the Greenville Downtown Airport, and it's not uncommon to see planes taking off and landing just a few feet away. The sound of the engines and the sight of the planes soaring through the air is truly a sight to behold.
But that's not all that Runway Park has to offer. The park also features a fantastic putt-putt course. The course is well-maintained and challenging, with plenty of obstacles to keep you on your toes. It's the perfect activity for families or groups of friends looking for some friendly competition.
After a round of putt-putt, my kids and I decided to grab a bite to eat at the small restaurant located on site. We were blown away by the quality of the food. The menu features classic American fare like hamburgers, hot dogs, and fries, but everything is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the prices were extremely reasonable.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed by Runway Park. The combination of airplanes overhead, a fantastic putt-putt course, and delicious food makes for a truly unique experience. The park is well-maintained and clean, and the staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or simply looking for a fun day out with friends and family, Runway Park is a must-visit destination. Don't miss the chance to experience this one-of-a-kind park...
Read moreI went here just after Christmas in 2018 with my brother, two of my cousins, and my nieces and nephews. The park is, at this time, very nice and in great condition. The theme of the park is an airport, which can be seen in almost every aspect of the park. Many of the items are made from old airplane parts and the actual layout of the park is an airport with two (correctly marked) runways that intersect in the center. At the entrance to the park is a Cessna 310,mounted on a pole, about 15 ft off the ground, as if it were making a turn. The playground equipment is designed to look like a control tower, as well as other buildings. One climbing piece is in the form of a stylized hammerhead stall. The sides and middle trace the path the plane's wings take when performing this maneuver. There is also a bench which has a top made from the wings of a small, light aircraft. I would also suggest that you take a few minutes to walk around the perimeter of the park on the walking path and take a few minutes to read the placards. These give information about airplanes, parts, operations, and the history of aviation, especially in upstate SC.
There is a picnic pavilion with tables and a cover for parties and cookouts that is for food use on a first come first serve basis. I'd recommend going here if your in the area, especially if you have children and are looking for a place to kill some time for...
Read moreI have two boys 7 and 3 and they love going to this park. I think mostly because it’s ALWAYS filled with new best friends (lol) rarely do we come and no one is there tho it has happened. The park is airport themed so there is a runway for them to race on, model planes for them to sit in and pretend. Two playgrounds for the varying developmental stages, swings for little and big kids lots of benches all around the perimeter. There is also a covered canopy area with about 8 bench tables for party’s or lunches/snacks. The bathroom have been clean the few times we have used them. The water fountains was working pre-COVID-19 I haven’t checked since. There is a small restaurant/ice cream shop right next to the park. I’m not sure if it is open and running I have never seen it open I just assume I’m coming at the wrong times. None the less...the park is right next to a small airport and small planes can be seen taking off and landing constantly! It’s so close my kids try to climb the fence to get to the planes. Thank goodness it’s not possible but to them they are so close it sometimes drives them mad trying to touch the planes. They can’t get enough of the...
