We went there as a family during our trip down to the beach, a quick pitstop in Winterville, North Carolina.
For starters, this was our first time here. We went there around 1 PM on a Saturday, which was not very busy as it just opened. First, our hostess was doing her duty by making us go into a single-file line and for checking our temperatures via temperature check device for wrist; quick and simple procedure that was under 3 minutes tops. She was very kind too and brought us to an ideal table for the 6 of us. The table was social distanced from other tables, allowing us to be a comfortable environment where we can take off our masks and eat peacefully with the additional white table mat so the table doesn’t get messy from the seafood.
Our waitress was super kind as well, getting us our appetizers, Calamari and Mozzarella Sticks, and our drinks ASAP. Drinks were very good. My only complaint would be that the calamari was a bit “too chewy” as it might have been overcooked. Not saying it was terrible but may just need to cook it to an ideal period where the calamari isn’t as chewy.
I ordered a “Hungry Feast”, which contained many things like snow crab legs, corn, eggs, sausage, and shrimp. The order came in at an appropriate time which was around I would guess 10-15 minutes-ish. The table had our bibs for the messiness so it wouldn’t ruin our clothes, along with gloves so our hands wouldn’t be dirty. My first impression of the meal was that it’s a very interesting and exciting experience. You have to rub the bag that contains the food around so it can get all that seasoning and juices, and then plop it on the metal bowl so it can hold the food.
I really liked how delicious and tasty everything was. The crab legs might have been overcooked but it still had that juicy tasty meat inside it once cracked. The eggs were cooked well and were easy to eat. The sausage was a bit too salty from the juices and seasoning but I would suggest for a way to In cooperate it so it wouldn’t be like that as much. Lastly, the shrimp was very tasty and have no complaints from that. Our waitress did a very good job asking us if we needed anything on a regular basis and provided us with a very absolute good experience other than messing up my relative’s meal with a slight error of giving him clams when he didn’t ask for it (no biggie).
Afterwards, cleanup was very easy and no hassle. Juicy Crab provided us with alcoholic wipes so our cleans could be cleaner after using gloves. Somehow, I have gotten real full from that, so I wanted to box it for tomorrow. The staff were very kind to assist with that and helped me put the food in a bag and secured it very well.
A day later, I ate my meal and I would like to say that the meal was still tasty like it was when I first received it; absolutely awesome.
In conclusion, Juicy Crab did not disappoint my family and myself. We had an amazing experience and was welcomed with very nice staff and very amazing seafood. I would recommend this as I went there for my first time. You need to try this restaurant out for anyone nearby and stopping over. This place is very good, especially during times like these where you can’t have sit-down restaurants anymore without modifying many things. Even with modifications, the restaurant gave us a welcoming feel. I wish we can come back here but we sadly do not have Juicy Crab near my residence of Northern Virginia. Winterville is a very good place for this joint to be opened up.
I would like to shoutout the general manager for being so amazing and so polite and had a very family-like manner going on. She’s absolutely amazing and informed us on what to get and showed us how we should eat it properly.
Till next time Juicy Crab, thank you for...
Read moreDrove all the way from New Bern to try it out. We went there on a Tuesday evening 10/10/23 for my 54th birthday! Best birthday dinner in years! It was my first time there. After eating my meal, I could not believe that the place wasn’t packed, even on a Tuesday night! Our waitress was excellent. I wish that I could remember her name. Long hair, very beautiful (inside and out), very attentive us and took great care of us. She brought me cheesecake when she heard that it was my birthday! The restaurant was super clean. Loved the paper on the tables so you could put shells, etc. I was so so happy with the plastic bib, plastic gloves and bucket for my crab legs. I didn’t get food all over me and the gloves made me feel safe from eating with my hands possibly being dirty from touching things that could transfer germs. I am a nurse so I get paranoid over that. And I don’t like to eat wet foods with my bare hands after putting on hand sanitizer. That really was HUGE for me. I could relax and enjoy every delicious bite. I was worried that I wasn’t going to be a big fan because I am not a huge fan of hot seasonings that come with seafood boils. BUT, I LOVE that they gave you a choice of seasonings or garlic butter. OH. MY. WORD. The garlic cloves cooked in that butter, WAS PERFECT! I literally could have drank the garlic butter mix at the bottom of my boil bag. I took two stars of “Atmosphere” because the music was not the best for a restaurant. It got loud and over bearing at times. It was too much noise in my head. I like a more soothing environment to wind down in with my meal plus, at times, I couldn’t even converse with my husband because the music got a tad bit too much. I took one star off of “Service” and I prob should take off two (not because of our waitress!!), but I don’t drink, however, we were sitting near the bar. It’s a nice bar area. But customers were being turned away because they said they had no bartender on duty that night. Said they were short-handed. I just think that’s a big “no-no” for a restaurant. Liquor/beer go hand in hand with dinner. People like to wind down and drink after work. I have a feeling that may be why they were very slow because their food is amazing to me. I had steamed mussels, Dungeness crab, corn, potato. All of it was coated with garlic butter! I also had raw oysters and they were HUGE and meaty for oysters, along with fried calamari. It was such a tasty and perfectly cooked birthday dinner. I went overboard, but we took home what we couldn’t eat. Anyway, that’s my experience. I absolutely loved it and I will go...
Read moreA friend and I went to Juicy Crab yesterday in Winterville, NC for the first time. Even the waitress wrote it on the paper on the table. We both had shrimp and they were good. I lived on the coast most of my life and have eaten many types of seafood and have to say your shrimp were good. But things we did notice and concerned both of us, was the service. It was terrible. When we came in it was like they didn’t know what to do with us. Like they weren’t prepared for customers. Employees were standing around talking and laughing. Like they didn’t care if we got sitting. We almost left but decided we would hang on. Finally we were sitting. The waitress came over and took our order. We notice she wrote everything we said on the paper on the table. That was nice. But then it went down from there. We never saw our waitress again, but she was helping other customers and laughing with customers. Finally another waitress asked if we needed anything and she got the tea we requested. After awhile another waitress brought us our food. She asked if we needed anything else. We thanked her and asked for ketchup and she said she would be right back. Never saw her again. After we had eaten a waitress came to us and said oh you guys wanted ketchup and gave us two little containers of ketchup. By then we didn’t need them. The person with me wanted more tea and tried to get a waitress to get her some. Then we tried to pay, the waitress came right back with the ticket to pay for the meal. That they got for us fast. By now another waitress came with the tea. My friend and I talked about it going home and we both agreed that if something isn’t changed at this site the restaurant won’t last. I have traveled all over the world and never, I mean never have I seen more poorer service in waitresses in the world. I have managed lots of people given service to customers but if I had been managing those employees I would have fired them and hired new employees. Food can be great but if the service is terrible customer wont return. I hope someone can change the service or like most restaurants that give poor service you won’t last. Always remember service of employees reflects on management or lack of. I hope things change so this restaurant can stay open but if it don’t your store won’t last. I plan to come back in the future and see if things have changed and if it hadn’t I won’t come back again and I will let people I know what type...
