Update We were feeling sushi today and so we went back to Q Sushi this afternoon for lunch. It was a great decision. The experience was much improved! The quality of the food was better in both presentation and flavor! The service was top notch and both Ethan and Lyndsey were very polite and made our experience rich!
This is a clear winner for sushi in Greenville and the hibachi and apps were also delightful!
Come check it out!
Original I want to start off by saying, please go here! This is a brand new business, and while there are some kinks to work out, there's some things to celebrate as well. I am writing this review with Greenville in mind.
Spontaneously, my lady and I decided to get some sushi while at Lowe's and I remembered seeing Q Sushi nearby. So we went! At the front, the host greeted us and put us on the wait list. The wait wasn't very long.
Food Make no mistake, this is an all-you-can-eat sushi and habachi place only. No a la cart or individual dishes. The quality of the sushi was much better and fresher than some of the other higher-rated places in Greenville. 4/5 stars for sushi quality! We sampled nearly half of the rolls and most were pretty good. Shrimp tempura fans will do well here. I'm dinging a star here because the appetizers (we sampled 4) were not great. The sushi taco had all the right components, but the execution was a bit lackluster. The 3 fried apps we had were pretty indistinguishable and bland.
Service It seemed there was a miscommunication between the host and our server as she explained. We waited about 10 mins before we were seen. I will however like to point out that, looking around, the us was not the norm for everyone else. Service around us was quick and constant; looked good. I think our server was randomly assigned to us downstairs and the majority of her zine was upstairs. This is why I am dinging the second star.
Overall, our experience was between ok and good. I think, given other circumstances, it would have been straight up good! I'd happily try here again. I think they can do better and I believe they will!
Bottom line Give this place a try. It's better quality than some of the other G'ville sushi places with higher...
Read moreThe staff is great, the wait time is short from when you order to being served, and the menu selection has a good variety of choices especially for the dinner menu. The idea of this type of order-fresh AYCE sushi is awesome. However, not maintaining a certain level of freshness especially when it comes to raw seafood ruins the entire experience and appetite. I've been here three times on different days of the week to see if it would make a difference since weekends tend to be busier which is easier to keep food fresh. Each time I've visited, the freshness of raw sushi has been subpar at best even on their busy days. The last time I was there would be the worse (Wednesday) of the three visits in terms of freshness. This is disappointing since it's the closest AYCE sushi place which is still a 50 minute drive one-way. The distance isn't the issue, the disappointment in the freshness of their raw sushi is.
QSushi: Please up your game on freshness, is all I ask. It's by far the most basic important aspect of any sushi restaurant. I understand that perhaps not as many customers order raw seafood in the area but... Please find a better system/routine to keep the raw seafood you serve Fresh! Thank you.
Edit: July 22, 2023. Service was awesome like always. The freshness of the sushi has improved overall. However, the salmon for their poke sashimi didn't taste fresh and the texture of the fish was unusually stiff. Would like to also point out that every time I've been there, the tables and soy sauce containers have been sticky and/or dirty. This time, I had food crumbs still on the table. The dinnerware usually has small traces of oil/sauce or food still on them at times. Management should pay more attention to these small details that reflect negatively on the restaurant as an overall...
Read moreAll you can eat sushi, what could be better? When you come in they will give you a menu and you can choose anything off of it to eat which is included in your price, except drinks are extra. I suggest ordering more than one roll at a time because they come in 4 pieces. They are fairly quick here but waiting for 4 bites at a time may be a bit rough for ya.
For you guys out there that are gluten-free. You'll need to stick with nigiri and sashimi. For the novice who may need a hand,.... sashimi is a fresh slice of raw fish, nigiri is a fresh slice of raw fish on top of a ball of rice. They don't have any sauces that aren't gluten-free, so I would bring my own if I were you. I was told the meat stir fry and rice plates are gluten-free, but you should double check how it's cooked and what seasonings they use. I noticed their spicy tuna and salmon is minced and mixed with panko crumbs, which are not gluten-free, so be careful when you order a roll. The Sal-fornia roll is safe, and some of the rolls you can ask to leave off the crunch. But a lot of their rolls have that mixed, minced fish that has the gluten crumbs in it. Also the Miso soup should be ok, but you'll need to ask about how it's fermented. If it's fermented in soybeans, it's ok, but many companies use wheat or barley to ferment. That's why it's hard to find the quick /instant miso soup at the grocery store that is gf.
So....... this place is good for the price but not easy for those who have allergies. We had a great time with our friends here and ANNA was the 💣!!! She was so sweet, helpful and patient with us all. We had a party of 12 and she made serving us look like a cake walk. 😉👍My extra star was...
