I booked the banquet room and 2 nights here for my wedding. Dawn was friendly and great from the beginning to work with. However, communication between other staff or getting things written down must not work here because I received at least 3 phone calls asking if I booked the banquet room for the day before or just Saturday...so I was a little worried that things would be all messed up. When arriving the friday before my wedding I went straight to my bed and there was a piece of hair in it. I didn't think anything of it at first....figured a piece of the housekeepers hair must have fell onto it. Well pulled the otherside and it was in fact dirty bedding more hair and stains! I went downstairs immediately to report it and they were changed....Still with a stain on the sheets as pictured. There was also a pill and a leaf on the carpet, spill on the chair looked like it may have been coffee, spot on the toilet and the knob from the stove was just laying on top. My room was never cleaned! Next day went to go to the banquet room and I had rented it from 9-2. As we were entering the house keeper was going in to vacuum. She was very friendly but it was very inconvenient to have to wait for us to enter when we had a scheduled time. My grandparents also rented a room and their TV didn't work. I did report all of this information to the manager and I was given one night free. I missed out on pictures with my girls in their robes on the bed that I got them for gifts because I didn't want to bring them into my dirty room. After this I checked my account and my card was charged 3 times so I had to call regarding that as well. My pictures outside from my wedding turned out great! I'd still recommend as they did say the housekeeper was fired because that wasn't the first time that happened and because at least they did give me a little money back rather than none. Still think I paid too much for what I received and missed out on some pictures I'll never get to have. Just not sure I'd recommend for a wedding or to another bride. Would probably be better if you just needed a place to sleep.
Update: Today I found out that another family members room was not clean and they were charged for 2 nights when they only stayed for one and I guess whoever was handling it was not very friendly. At this point I wouldn't recommend. I thought I was booked a vintage hotel and it was just dirty and outdated and not...
Read moreJune 14-June23 2018. We had a Christian campmeeting and no other hotel in the area. We just suffered. ||We made reservations to stay a week and they charged us the first min we checked in. By mistake, they charged us twice and took more than 24 hours to receive the money back. It costed us an overdrawing. Pictures in internet are false, make think the hotel is beautiful and well take care but the truth is Hotel is extremely old and outdated. There is not closets where to hang your clothes, only three hangers in a corner of the room, how you do if you are staying there for the entire week? There is not light in the room, only two old lamps with opaque light. Dirty and mice smelling drawers. Dusty room made me cough all night. Online says $85 per night then they charged us $97, no one at the desk when you need them, staff seemed they don't know their responsibilities, one call another and no one knows how to respond efficiently. Rooms are upstairs and not elevator!!! You have to drag your suitcase all the way up. There is not microwave in the room, only ONE in the hall to share with more than 14 rooms. The AC did not work properly. No handlers in the bathtub. One day with no hot water, our cars were scratched in the parking lot, etc., etc. When we asked the manager about all of this, he said, the hotel is for people who like antiques, BUT one thing is you have a taste for old fashion and other is lack of facilities. There is a bar in the first floor and you have to cross that bar full of people drinking to go to your room. There is a door that exit direct to the street, which is open UNTIL 2am, there is an emergency door (Those to be used only for firefighters) in the second floor but this, is also a door where smokers can go out to smoke and it is ALSO open 24/7, which makes that place very unsafe. People made noises until 2am approximately, you cannot sleep. In brief, that place can be recommended only to your worse enemy or for people who want to experiment how was living in 1920s when the building was constructed. A couple good things were noticed: it seemed the walls are painted recently, there are mirrors everywhere, hall carpet...
Read moreUnfortunatly it was again underwhelming for one of us. It started with waiting for a table in the dining room more than 5 minutes to even be acknowledged.
Once seated menus were forgotten and when the server showed up she was expecting us to order.. No big deal.
We ordered my wife ordered the almond shrimp, and I ordered just the Jumbo shrimp.
When they came out my shrimp looked pretty weak compared to the Almond crusted shrimp she ordered. Unfortunatly mine were perfect, and they use big shrimp and hand bread them too.
My wife's were encased in a 1/4" of heavy breading that literally when broken open poured water out.
Honestly the. Almond was overpowering and my wife just peeled off the breading and ate the shrimp. We probably would have sent it back had the server stopped by after serving the plates, but she was nowhere to be found until we were through. She asked if my wife was done, but didn't ask why here plate was covered in breading peeled off of the shrimp.
As she started to leave I told her my wife's meal was terrible. Because we were using a Groupon she said she wasn't sure she could discount the plate and in fact came back to tell us she couldn't.. No Manager, no chef, just a bill for the remaining $13 and change.
Needless to say we weren't impressed and it will be a good while before we will go back.. I wasn't rude to the server and even tipped her 20%, but the overall malaise of the food and service didn't call to me or my wife to recommend or endorse the Winter Inn to anyone else either.
If.... The manager had stepped in, it may have been different. But I guess we'll never know.
I did leave my complaint and number on the back of the check... Doubtful anyone will care to make the call to the disgruntled customer.

The manager did call me the following weekend and apologized profusely. She also sent a gift certificate whice came yesterday for more than the amount of our combined dinner We'll give it another shot and see how it goes. I have to give credit to her she was persistent and found me making numerous attempts to get me at the...
