UPDATE 2/14/2021: I have to append my earlier review from prior visits last year (below). Somehow - and I genuinely do not know how this is possible - each of my experiences since have IMPROVED! Please allow me to detail below:
Food quality is, literally shockingly to me, better each time. BSF prepares the best chicken nuggets in the Tristate that I have discovered including from private kitchens (is that smoked paprika I taste??). This fact is very hard for me to write. There are numerous outstanding eateries, including several local to Byram/Greenwich, that serve truly exceptional chicken (visit those, too!). They are a solid tier below the version of the dish from this restaurant and this is due to the ingredient quality & consistency in prep each and every time I have requested it. Also best takeout container I have ever encountered, anywhere. Serious kudos for recyclable/reusable/compostable.
Now, I am writing this updated review not because of the food. There have been - rarely - some misses (onion rings are a notoriously difficult dish to pull off perfectly especially within commercial fryers/hot line and made basically impossible thanks to a broad [ie: late] pickup window from yours truly). I consider this no slight. And this is the only dish I have ever tried from BSF I would not consider a 10 (only a 9.5 and honestly better than you can find anywhere else I have looked), and even then any sub-par preparations are proportionally rare to the point of being negligible to my overall impression (like ... happened twice. Out of nearly 25 visits?).
I am updating this review because of the degree of service at this restaurant.
I have worked within the service industry nearly my entire career and foodservice approx. 10 years.
I have never seen a service professional work with the calm composure and professional courtesy as I have watched Eric throw down behind the counter and over the phone. Constantly.
'nuff said. I am impressed to the point of being humbled. I had to say something. Thank you all, truly. Stay blessed and looking forward to next time!
I think very possibly the best counter-service restaurant in Westchester. Absolutely Top-10 Eatery in the county, period. You will not find a superior preparation of this type of food in this area and if you ever do please do contact me!
Perfect menu; simple & very convenient to order via many channels (I use online but suggest calling if you have the time ahead of your visit), in my opinion perfect format for serving what the name suggests - burgers, shakes (best Malted shake I have ever had in my life), and fries!
The quality is evident in every component of the meal and service experience. 100% worth a stop in if you are around the area - this location is not only worth the hype (I have not yet visited any others), there's good reason for so much repeat customer loyalty. Chef Manuel is doing an incredible job & the ownership and rest of staff are fantastic to boot ... I hope they remain here for a very long time.
PS: Don't sleep on the desert menu!! Adding any of the house-made baked goods to any of the menu shakes (I'm partial to the Cinnamon but they're all great) = the next level....
Read moreWe planned this as a stop along our way to some end-of-summer camping with the kids.
Everything we had was absolutely delicious. I had a single burger with Gorgonzola, raw onion, and hot peppers...totally yum. I was a little worried I wouldn’t love the toast (instead of a traditional hamburger bun) and I am happy to report I had nothing to worry about! I actually preferred the thick toasted bread to a bun!
My husband had a vanilla milkshake and after his first sip said, “This is one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever tasted.” He described it as “very vanilla-y.” I’d hoped to try it but he downed it before I got a chance! Lesson learned. Next time I’ll order my own.
The onion rings were cooked to perfection. The fries were delicious. The kids had hot dogs and chicken tenders. I didn’t try the hot dog but I tasted the chicken and was pleasantly surprised! It didn’t taste like the chicken tenders my kids normally get at a burger joint. It was juicy and flavorful.
We ate in, and although there’s limited seating, we were all comfy.
I love that our food was served on reusable materials (metal trays for the food.) Our leftover food was wrapped in aluminum and placed in a paper bag. No plastic!
And finally, the staff was absolutely lovely!! They checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed, even offering to refill my kiddos’ yummy raspberry lemonades.
Burger, Shakes, and Fries will now be a regular stop on our Rocky Neck...
Read moreFantastic place for freshly made burgers and fries. Next time I definitely will try the shakes. The food was very delicious, and the service was very friendly where the owner, Kory, says your name and chats you up. He made me feel at ease while ordering and was very welcoming at this establishment. Honestly looking at the menu did give me some concerns about how expensive the burgers would be. However, it turned out very reasonable. For 2 single patty cheeseburgers with lettuce and tomatoes, large fries, onion rings, a small order of sweet tots, 2 lemonades, and a Sprite can, can out to $41. That was plenty of food and very delicious. The wait for the food was a bit long but it was made to order and it beings my first time there, I like to see how a business operates. A pro tip from Kory is to use their app to order ahead and just pick up. Scan the QR code or find their app, BSF, in the app store. The burgers are all made medium rare unless specifically said otherwise. So do understand how you want your burger cooked so that you can relay it to others and not be surprised when you get your burger. The sweet tots are made from sweet potatoes and lightly salted. There are 2 locations, one is in Greenwich CT and the other is in Darien CT. Cash and credit are both accepted. No public bathrooms. Bench seating only inside. Street parking is available but very limited...
