Hard to find affordable and good sushi restaurant near New Haven, so I came all the way down here because this place had stellar ratings.

I can guarantee that I have eaten sushi/sushi rolls at least 1000 times in my life and never have I ever seen a place that puts tempura INSIDE the spicy tuna mix/filling. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️Not sure who thought it was a good idea since tempura mixed with the filling only made the tempura soggy and the sushi just greasy. They should have at least written it down on the menu, or asked/notified in advance that there is tempura inside (Isn’t that not obvious? Tempura is gluten.) No such sign/warning whatsoever.

It wasn’t just the spicy tuna mix, but all other sushi was purely bad and not fresh. Had few pieces and couldn’t finish. Server didn’t care to ask why I left so much food. Server was hardly around actually, when there were only 3 tables filled.

Still trying to figure out why/how this place is 4.7. Would only recommend to...

Food - 5/5 - The food is very fresh. You can tell things haven't been sitting around all day. Great taste and flavors. The menu has a lot to choose from and they don't specialize in one area. Sushi, noodles, hot apps, cold apps, salads....they're all great. And they are consistent with their quality. Everytime we come back, the food is just as good last time.

Service - 5/5 - Service is fast. The servers are pleasant and always checking in. Food comes out relatively quick, and is always fresh. The owners are great and very pleasant to talk to. You can tell they put a lot of work into the establishment.

Ambiance - 5/5 - Great atmosphere. Lots of room. You can sit at the sushi bar or at a table. The chairs are comfortable. Decor is very nice. It doesn't get too loud that you can't hear the people at you table. Very clean.

Overall, great restaurant. I've been there a few times, and every time they deliver. Great food for the cost. Highly...

I just tried this place for the first time. I was excited to try because it seemed authentic and thought it would be better than other japanese restaurants in the area. the edamame was bland and tasted like literal dirt.. idk how else to explain that. the pan fried gyoza wasn’t horrible, it was okay. the pineapple fried rice was not my cup of tea. It had a curry seasoning on it? which is fine, but it wasn’t listed that way on the menu so I was surprised and didn’t like it at all. I called the store, sharing that I just picked up and explained the situation. they agreed to deliver me a “regular vegetable fried rice with adding pineapple”. It never came. On top of that, when I tried to clarify that the fried rice would be fried regularly with soy sauce, they said they don’t do that..? Am I lost? Isn’t this how you make fried rice? please correct me if I’m wrong. Regardless, food was terrible, service was obviously worse....

I went to Sushi Soba for the first time on Valentines Day. They do up the restaurant and make it truly fit the holiday. Balloons at the table, hearts everywhere and even a complimentary rose for the love of your life at the end of your dinner. I really wanted to get a sushi boat and was 90% of the reason I wanted to try this new to me sushi palace. Sadly we ordered one but it didn’t arrive in a boat. What we got was even better. High quality sushi that tasted absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the yellowtail, salmon sashimi and their white tuna. It was all to die for. If that doesn’t fill you, give their chicken katsu a try. It’s a gigantic piece of delicious chicken fried to perfection and served with a side of white rice. Such a truly perfect meal. Why not share it with the love of your life. Give this place a try. Sushi Soba doesn’t disappoint.

I tried Sushi Soba in Greenwich for the first time, and honestly, I didn’t even know this gem was here! I ordered exactly what I usually get at my regular sushi spot in Norwalk, and the taste was just as amazing — maybe even better. The salmon sashimi was super fresh and delicious, the spicy tuna rolls were perfect, and the pork gyozas were cooked just right. The service was amazing too — our server kept refilling our waters without us asking and checked in to make sure we were doing good, which made the whole experience even better. The only small thing was that the fried Oreos didn’t come with ice cream, but it was still good. For the price and the amount of food my cousin and I ate, it was totally worth it. Definitely recommend coming here if you’re in Greenwich — I’ll for sure be coming back!

Sushi Soba is one of our favorite sushi spots! They are always so kind, keep a clean restaurant and the food arrives quickly. They offer great lunch specials too, though we often love to come for a sit down dinner. They have a large menu and also serve alcohol. We usually get a few rolls and my husband loves the shrimp pineapple friend rice. There’s always leftovers, as the sushi rolls are very large! They are fast, efficient and delicious! If you’re debating trying it, definitely recommend you do!
