Denny's — Restaurant in Greenwood

I have been only to this Denny’s location many times in the last 3-4 years. I usually get the same thing. The Country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and another vegetable. Typically with country fried steak you get white gravy anywhere you go unless you ask for another gravy. The potatoes are usually just traditional plain mashed potatoes. This time the potatoes was very different. It tasted like they added a LOT of old bacon grease to them and too much salt. The gravy was not white, it wasn’t brown, but a very pail brown that made it look like it was burned a little, it didn’t taste burned, but was very greasy and salty and did not taste like white gravy or gravy at all. I complained to the waitress and she reported it to the manager. The manager said they changed the gravy from what they used to use, and obviously the potatoes as well. I don’t mind potato peels in my mashed potatoes, but when I order them I want them to taste like potatoes. This time my husband was with me as other times. He got the same thing. He said everything tasted fine, but i know he was lying, and that made me look like an idiot! He just doesn’t like it if i complain. It wasn’t just my taste buds. This dinner was 100 % awful. The manager gave me a new order with no gravy, and i realized then that the potatoes was just as bad as the gravy. I could eat only the broccoli and the country fried steak. Denny’s, stop trying to change things when it was already good. If you are trying to save money, don’t do it with the expense of my tastebuds. I’ve been going to Denny’s for many years and I’ve never been so disappointed.....no not just disappointed, dissatisfied, but angry. I was looking forward to a good dinner that I would usually get and you ruined my evening. So did my husband making me look like an idiot. The potatoes and gravy were NASTY, PERIOD!!! FIX IT! RETURN TO THE TRADITIONAL MASHED POTATOES AND WHITE GRAVY. OR I WON’T SPEND MY MONEY THERE EVER...

My family's been coming here for years and never had a bad meal because if it turned out to be a bad meal you send it back and get something better.... Case in point is the new bourbon steak that is on the menu.. my dear mother ordered this and we have to remember that we are eating a steak at denny's! We are not eating a steak at a steakhouse and so this is not the absolute best cut of steak but it is steak. My mother did not care for it so much and I know very good and well that the staff would have taken it back and given her bourbon chicken if she wanted it. So the bourbon chicken is my mother's favorite thing there and who can go wrong with moons over my hammy WITH the awesome, absolutely delicious ranch dressing that they have placed a bit of dill into. I don't care if I have two fries left and half a sandwich, it never fails that the waitress will HAPPILY bring me a to go order of that delicious ranch dressing and I could eat it with my fingers on the way home if I'm not careful! Always a good meal here. Always lovely staff but I wish they would put the television, if they're going to hear the news, on MSNBC instead of CNN. I require a serious and truthful look at news instead of a Network that has been purchased by right wing and fired all the true reporters....jus' sayin' .... But it was voting day and at least there was good news for me to hear even if CNN didn't really want to report it.... AND THE MEAL WAS...

I went in at about 2 this morning and the experience reminded me of why Americans still have so much growing to do. My boyfriend and I were never greeted and all the staff walked past us atleast 6 times. We stood and waited for 10 minutes while being completely ignored clearly because we were the only blacks and when the lady got done doing whatever she felt like doing and checking on other tables she finally came and said "just the two of you?" I instantly turned around and walked out because it was extremely embarrassing for people to see us standing there waiting and looking stupid while staff passed us up over and over again because in all actuality they just didn't want to serve us. It was definitely a horrible feeling and experience and I will never go to this Dennys ever again. It is important to teach the people that work for you that customers deserve a great experience no matter the color of their skin and if this establishment doesn't want to help black people then maybe you should go back to putting signs on the door that says WHITES ONLY so you can save people the...
