I was visiting Indianapolis this past weekend and thought it would be nice to take the family out for Korean food. We were 50/50 on whether or not to go to Sisters or another restaurant but ultimately decided on Sisters because it was closer. We were pleased by the great reviews here and had high hopes for the restaurant.
Upon entering we were greeted by an appetizing smell of bbq meats in the air. We waited at the host station and noticed 1 woman running around taking care of tables. We were not in a rush and waited. And waited. And then 10 minutes standing there became 15, then 20. While all this was happening we noticed she avoided making eye contact with us. It was almost as if she wanted us to leave. After 20 minutes had passed we were about to walk about but another family came in and we said oh they must seat us all now, they don't want us crowding the lobby area. But no, they kept us all standing there while the 1 woman kept running around table to table ignoring us.
To make matters worse, twice we witnessed a random woman who was dining in with her partner, get up from her table and serve herself from the kitchen. She was not wearing a mask and no one seemed to mind. She even looked over to us a few times with a sympathetic glance. We all wished she could have served us too.
After about 25 minutes of waiting, we were finally seated. Menus were briskly dropped at the table and not a single word was said to us by the woman. Not a single word!! If this were my restaurant I'd have at the very least given a brief "Apologies about the wait, we are a bit understaffed tonight."
The straw that broke the camels back though was when the woman came back to take the drink or food orders and just walked past our table and went to the table of the people seated after us (same size group). She took their full orders and then went to the kitchen. Never came back to our table, never said "Just one minute" or anything. After another 5 minutes of waiting for her to return we left starving and disappointed.
As a Korean-American from NYC it was both sad and surprising to see a Korean restaurant being run this way in an area where there is not an abundance of Asian or ethnic businesses. It is a shame to see Sisters restaurant as an example of Korean culture in...
Read moreMy husband and I have gone to Sisters on two separate occasions. The service was terrible both times. There is usually one lady serving multiple tables, which we remained sympathetic about. The issue is whenever she did get to us, there was a HUGE difference in demeanor when she would serve us compared to other tables. She'll be joyful and joke with other customers (which just happened to be Asian) and when she would get to us, she was always cold and rude to use when we are trying to order. She makes it seem like we are a huge inconvenience to her and stare coldly to us. Regardless, we wanted to support a local business so we pressed on and ordered the "All you can eat grilled buffet." It is a little pricey but didn't mind. My husband and I ate literally everything from the rice to the soup to all 14 banchans and meats. My husband left four bits the size of a small thumb of pork belly fat. Extremely minuscule. The server came by, after trying to flag her for at least 10 minutes, and told us that she wouldn't serve us a second round of meat for the all-you-can-eat-buffet if we left food behind. We tried to explain to her that my husband isn't a fan of fatty bits and that is why he left it behind but she still pressed us that we were wasting food. That instantly killed our mood. At that point, we finished up what we had and left (which I guess they tip themselves? she tipped herself 12 dollars but I didn't fight it because we were frustrated and wanted to leave). This is an absolute shame especially because the food is pretty good. I gave them two stars for the delicious food but horrible service.
Sisters, your service really needs...
Read moreThis is our second time going there although we weren’t very happy with their customer service at first time. The first time, we tried regular menu and it was expensive compare to other restaurants. They didn’t check what we need and we were being ignored. This time, we decided to try their buffet barbecue. They have 4 different types of meat( 2 beef types, chicken, pork belly). We wanted to order what we like, but they said we bring out everything first, after that, we can order more meat what we like. On their tray, half of it is chicken( cheapest meat), small amount of both beef types, and 2 thin pork bellies. So we started grilling and finished beefs and pork belly, only chicken left on grill since they gave us a lot. I don’t feel like eating chicken anymore, so I tried to order more pork belly and beef, but they said NO NO, you got to eat all chicken first otherwise you can’t order more. I was like what the heck( in my mind), they intentionally gave you cheapest meat more and we aren’t allowed to order anymore unless we eat it. I had to force my husband to eat all they chicken that way I can order 2 slices of pork belly more. I was obviously upset, they notice and tried to explain that we have to say what we don’t want at the beginning. They have many rules eating in this restaurants, they are stingy in their side dishes too, some of them are not refillable. Why they call it buffet then? SO whoever want to try their buffet barbecue, let them know what meat you don’t want in their first tray, that way you can get what you want to eat fully. Otherwise you ended up eating what you don’t like. We are not going...
