My first time here. It was maybe a little crazy for a Tuesday because we caught the tail end of a birthday party full of drunks on their way out, and my first impression was not really great considering there was a drunk guy barfing out of the passenger side of a car in the parking lot on the way in, and then we came in to find a bunch of unbussed dirty tables with empty cans or glasses and garbage or sticky rings on the tables. No one was eating, but people were drinking, playing games, and listening to music.
There was about 5 people over by the games/ poker machines a couple people at the bar, waiting for their drinks, and 2 more just lingering over a last drink at a table near the bar by entrance.
The place advertises 2am close time on Tuesdays, but we arrived at 1:10am, after work, hoping to eat a couple tacos for dinner on our way home (because I'd read somewhere they have a Taco Tuesday special). 10 minutes after we'd been standing in front of the bar, looking at the bartender trying to get his attention (his buddies and the regulars that walk up to the bar opening apparently go first.) While waiting, we'd had a chance to read a beer menu on wall above front of bar (which only lists their by-the-bottle & can options), then glance at 3 small groups of 4-taps, we just decided to sit down at the bar to get his attention, just as he had decided to call last call at 1:20 a.m. The bartender finally came to take our order and told us that tacos are only on Tuesdays and they are good sized Tacos, 2 for $1.50, but only served until 9 p.m. and that the place gets packed out/ crowded. Oh, and by the way, we weren't going to get ANY FOOD, much less tacos, because (apparently) since he yelled "last call", the kitchen was now "closed". So despite that we walked in to eat something, and we had 50 minutes before official close, we got screwed out of dinner, before we could even sit down. So we drank a cheap beer then left while the bartender sat next to his friend to drink a $5.50 shot of Fireball & a Red Bull with 4 people left in bar at around 1:40am.
I did glance at the food menu while we were drinking a beer in case we wanted to check back again another day (when the kitchen was actually open). He said the regular menu cuts off at midnight and then there's a smaller late-night menu that cuts off when he does last call. It looked like there was some good diversity in choices (not just deep fried foods and sandwiches or burgers like some places). In fact the I thought that the seafood options were pretty good and well priced for it being a little dive bar in a strip mall. For example I saw an option where you could get fish and shrimp and scallops (or clam strips) with fries for under $12. He said their steak bites and "road kill" sandwich are very good & popular options.
So far as the beer selection at that place, it was maybe 12 beers on tap and a lot of options for cheap individual drinks on the whiteboard; like almost every tall boy beer option in a can I might think of except Mexican beers (Hamm's, Rainer, Keystone, Rolling Rock, Pabst, Kokenee, and more for only what, $2 each?), plus several bottled beers, energy drinks and about 4 flavors if White Claw cider. But it looked like people there were much more into the cocktail drinks than beer. Or maybe it was because it was some guys birthday and they were all Kamikaze & cocktail fans.
The (women's) room seemed average cleanliness, with interesting old style pictures all over the wall from 40s & 50s era ads or magazines. I just glanced in, without using restroom, so I don't know the quality of TP, Hand Towels, or if the water comes out of the taps ice cold while the toilets have handles you have to "hold down" to flush, but if I ever manage a return visit, I'll get more of an idea if it's scarier or nicer...
Read moreI have been coming here for over a decade, since before I could legally drink (but then only to pick up a food order because I worked across the street). I love several things about this place: The atmosphere. Unless you're a Beaver fan, like me, or like any other team besides the Colts or Blazers. Kidding, they're very welcoming. Their Tripple-decker BLT. Best I've eaten in a tri-state area, & I've eaten a lot of BLT's. Taco Tuesday. 2/$1. Enough said.
I recommend this place to literally everyone who asks for a good place to eat. The bartenders pour well & pretty much everything I've eaten in the decade plus I've gone here is is fantastic. Also, it feels safe being here. For a girl whom comes here alone at night more often than not, thats a fantastic thing.
So, eat here, drink here, gamble here, and be merry here. It's a place...
Read moreVery unprofessional. I was 86’d because I got food poisoning, over a year prior, and a girlfriend of mine had a discrepancy with her change ( even though it turned out she was right!) And I was told by another customer that I was kicked out! When I called to speak with the owner, he was VERY rude! And rather than maybe apologize for the food poisoning, he kicks me out for it? And because they short changed my friend? And the bartender was very rude at the time! When they called her , to give her her change, the next day, they were very rude to her, as well… rather than apologize for the mistake! Not the way to treat people , in the...
