Hope's Café — Restaurant in Gresham

Really disappointed with the customer service and the service or i should say lack there of service.... My mom had called Hope's bakery and spoke with one of their employees about ordering a "frozen" birthday cake for my daughters 5th birthday. Shortly after Hope herself returned my mother's call. They discussed the size of the cake and the day that we would need the cake. Hope gave my mother the price of the cake and asked if she would like to pay for the cake now or when we picked the cake up. My mother said she would like to pay for it upon pick up as she was driving and was unable to give her card information at that time. Hope said that would be fine and that we would be able to pick up the cake that following Saturday by 11 am. Saturday at 11 am my mom goes to get the cake.... And there is NO CAKE! They never made the cake. This is 2 hours before my daughter's party is to start. My mom is obviously confused and upset. My daughter had already seen what her cake was going to look like and since she was having a Disney Princess Tea party she was BEYOND excited for this cake.... The employee's working that day said that my mom would of had to make at least a partial payment in order for the cake to have been made.... Which is completely understandable... I would want reassurance or obligation to someone actually purchasing the cake they work hard to make... But that was NEVER stated on either of the phone calls when inquiring about the cake, or when actually ordering the cake with Hope...2 hours before the party is clearly not enough time to order a new one from somewhere else... Or have Hopes bakery make one. So my daughter was VERY saddened by not having her cake. And my mother and were very disappointed in the lack of communication from Hope and her staff. We specifically went through Hopes bakery because we had a child with peanut allergies and knew that Hopes bakery did not use Peanuts.... Needless to say we...

Realized I forgot to add this review after the unfortunate incident but it’s on yelp also. Should’ve known it wasn’t going to be good by the lack of customers for breakfast during breakfast hours… was excited to try them out because they were a gluten free place Very disappointed, reviews made them sound good and it was not worth the money. Not to mention that the bacon had bleach on it and when my husband told them they tried to pretend they couldn’t smell the bleach at first like he was imagining it(poor customer service). They also forgot the gravy for the hot mess plates and instead brought a giant bowl of it out after we’d had our food for a bit- but it was still cold cause they didn’t microwave it long enough so it was nasty. The potatoes were a hash brown patty like McDonald’s and tasted freezer burnt, you only get one patty. The bacon was two thin strips, not that I wanted to really eat them after my husband discovered his had bleach on it(he took a bite and ate the bleach before realizing). They gave him his money back for his plate (not mine since they didn’t poison it) but i couldn’t even eat my food after that. The scrambled eggs were burnt too. It was just one of the worst breakfast experiences I’ve had in a long time. $15 for burnt eggs, freezer burnt hash brown patty that isn’t fully cooked, and thin bacon(that had bleach on it) and cold gravy 🤢🤮 Do not recommend, plenty of other breakfast...

Stopped in today on the advice of someone who mentioned they have GF treats. It was about 3:30 pm (Saturday) and there was only one person working in the front of house and although she was busy, she greeted us and gave us a heads up that she was a little swamped but would be with us as soon as possible. She efficiently completed the orders for the other folx waiting. She was very pleasant and made small talk with us. I want to point out that I have spent several years working in retail/food industry and as a fellow service industry worker I picked up on her being a little frazzled...BUT she handled it like a champ!! I didn't get her name, but I want you to recognize her for a job well done!! We order a GF peanut butter cookie, Keto cheesecake brownie and a GF scone. We tried the cookie tonight and OH MY GOODNESS..........YUMMY!!!! We will definitely be...
