I recently dined at this Gresham McDonald's located on 181st Avenue and Interstate 84, and my experience led me to conclude that this is my new favorite McDonald's!
This Gresham McDonald's is operated by Jessika Hernandez, who started as a Team Member in 1991 and worked up to Operator in 2006! The Store Supervisor is Mayra Rivera, the Store Manager during my visit was Jose, and Jesus was my cashier.
I've dined in several different McDonald's franchises in Oregon and Washington, but this one provided exemplary customer service each and every single time I visit. First of all, this McDonald's store has the longest operating hours of any McDonald's in Portland, Gresham, and Troutdale cities. Please reference my Operating Hours pictures for clarity. Their Dining Room Hours are open Monday - Thursday from 0500 AM to 2300 PM, Friday - Saturday from 0500 AM to 0000 AM, and Sunday from 0500 AM to 2300 PM! This is the only McDonald's that is open later than any other franchise, so you can satiate your munchies late nights. Their Drive-Thru Operating Hours are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So, if you don't make their Dining Room service, no worries, just don't exit your car and continue driving to their Drive-Thru to order! I've witnessed several dozen people over the years rush to make it into the Dining Room, but only to find the door locked, so they return to their vehicle and drive away. Only a few people have enough situational awareness to then try the Drive-Thru.
Their Dining Room is smaller than some other newly renovated franchises, but it is updated, kept clean, and provides electrical outlets for groups or individual diners. Their Dining Room also has a Red Box media dispenser, so you can browse for games, movies, and other rental media after you order. There are comfortable booths in the rear, partitioned with privacy decor as well as individual stools in the front of the store. Their menu boards are TV screens with perodic refreshes of different items and their prices. One caveat is I had to wait for the menu board to cycle back to my item to view its price for a large since I missed it previously.
Their customer service is superb because I've personally experienced a newly trainee mistype my order, but their manager apologizing for the error, and not only corrected the error, but recompensed me for my frustration, time, and expense by providing me a discount. I know this is not an isolated incident because I've witnessed this same excellent level of customer experience with other other people while waiting for my order. I witnessed this store's manager, Jose, carry bags of food and beverages to their parking lot and hand deliver an order if the wait will be longer than usual instead of stopping the entire Drive-Thru altogether. They wipe their tables during their down time, they sweep the floors in between waves of customers, and they actually check on their diners in their Dining Room to ensure they enjoy their food. Wow! I've never had any McDonald's team member follow up with me on my order, and complete my guest experience.
In conclusion, I would like to call out both Store Manager Jose, Cashier Jesus, and all the evening team members on Friday from approximately 2200 PM to 0000 AM for a great job. Jose runs a tight ship, and you can see that he is firm but fair. Jose understands you have a choice to purchase a hamburger from anywhere. Other McDonald's franchises sell you fast food. He realizes his unique and distinguishing product is his store's Customer Service, and a satisfactory experience from "Door to Floor"! His goal is to sell you great customer service, and the food is only a minority component of your guest visit.
OTHER MCDONALD'S FRANCHISES SELL YOU A GOOD. THIS GOOD HAPPENS TO BE FOOD, FAST AND CHEAP.
ON THE OTHER HAND, THIS MCDONALD'S STORE MANAGER, JOSE, UNDERSTANDS HE IS SELLING YOU A SERVICE. THIS SERVICE IS THEIR EXCELLENT DINING EXPERIENCE FROM WHEN THEIR CUSTOMER ENTERS THE DOOR UNTIL THEIR CUSTOMER LEAVES THE DINING ROOM FLOOR!
THIS SERVICE JUST HAPPENS TO INCLUDE THEIR...

Had gone in 5/6 at 9:40 pm to grab some food on my way home back to Washington. About a 45 minute drive. When I got to the intercom I waited over 6 minutes, finally said “hello?” And a very rude person came on the intercom “what do you want.” Brushing it off I started to make my order and he yelled at me to “wait.” And then eventually came back starting my order. I ordered 2 $5 value meals, one a McDouble and the other a McChicken. When I asked for the sauce he said he was “lost” confused on why he was lost and said the sauce I wanted and he continued to say he was lost over and over again. I finally said that the meal comes with chicken nuggets so I wanted a sauce with the nuggets. Very rudely said something snarky under his breath and I continued with the McDouble. I said I wasn’t no cheese. He didn’t even ask me to pull forward or anything, didn’t tell me my total till I got to the window to pay. He said I owed him $13.80. For what?? 5+5=10. He then claimed that I asked for a quarter pounder, which was true but I corrected myself when making the order. When I said this he yelled at me saying “you asked for extra beef, so I put extra meat on your sandwich. And slammed the window. I pulled up to grab my food and drove off.
I had tried to call the store 5 times, finally after the 6th call I got ahold of someone who couldn’t speak English apparently. I asked for a manager and he claimed to be the manager, when I voiced my concerns all he said was “yeah.” And “uh huh.” And demanded to speak to a real manager and he handed the phone of to someone else, another very incompetent person who thought the situation was funny and joked the whole phone call, when I stated that a window was slammed in my face he yelled over the phone “THAT WAS ME, WOMAN”. I hung up the phone, I have never had such an unpleasant experience.
I have taken this to corporate, and they have sent my review to the...
Read moreAfter waiting at the drive up speaker for nearly three minutes, and calling out " hello" numerous times, I pulled around to the window assuming that they may be a malfunction. I was not greeted by the young male in a professional manner, but instead accused of not staying where I was supposed to until he got done talking. Four people between the two windows had head sets on, just that I could see, and NOBODY could say "hold on please ", while I was saying "hello?".. then I was told because he had to take his headset off to talk to other people ( yet still had it on while talking to me) that he was unable to take my order of two simple breakfast sandwiches and should leave. When I asked if he had seen me, he said yes, when I asked why he didn't ask me to wait as is professional and polite, he responded with "because I didnt"... and again told me to leave. I maintained a calm tone of voice and asked multiple times if we could stop arguing and please just take my order and was repeatedly accused of not doing what I was supposed to (remember, I'm the customer, not the employee) and excuses as to why he didn't do his job correctly. I will never return to this establishment and won't recommend it either. Four blocks down is another one, with properly trained staff who will get my business. He is very lucky I'm not one of those crazies that would refuse to move until being given what I wanted. I spent less time talking to him then I did waiting at the speaker and filling out this comment. No wonder that location has such a high turn over rate and has to close early due to lack of staff. Not my...
