⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem on the East Side!

I've had a lot of Mexican food throughout the Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Forest Grove area, so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away—but Taqueria & Bar El Michoacan in Gresham genuinely surprised me in the best way. The food here is next level.

First off, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which immediately made the experience even better. They also have a great salsa bar with plenty of options, and the tortillas are handmade—not the store-bought kind you find in a bag. That alone makes a huge difference in flavor and texture.

I highly recommend the al pastor and asada tacos—both were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Their beans and rice were also excellent, not just an afterthought like at some other places.

This place is great. Huge portions, good prices, and quality food with many meat options some other Mexican restaurants in the area don’t include. The staff was all so friendly and accommodating to our large family group. The chef tonight is also the owner, he was very pleasant and overjoyed our family had such a good experience. He really cares about his food. Homemade tortillas, the works. They also have a salsa bar with various options and toppings. We all even had leftovers to take home and some of us are bigger eaters! I was sad to see el Indio go which was in this location but this place is a true gem and better! They’ve only been open here a couple of months but boy do they know how to bring people back again! Some things like the physical paper menu and readability could be improved but I assume they’ll work that out after they’ve been there longer. Absolutely my new go to for Mexican food on the East side...

We’ve eaten here THREE times this week—and we’re officially addicted! From the first bite, it was clear this place is something special. The food is authentic, bursting with flavor, and clearly made with love. Every dish we’ve tried has been absolutely delicious—crafted with care by a chef who knows exactly what they’re doing.
