Midway Pizza — Restaurant in Groton

Stay away. Literally got in an argument with them on the phone while ordering a pizza. They had coupons in the 2019 Fitch Falcons Premium discount pack that are good until 3/31/20 (9 months from now) for a free small cheese pizza with the order of any large two topping pizza. Initial argument was that coupon was only good during the baseball season - apparently the expiration date doesn't matter. Additional argument regarding delivery ensued after they agreed to accept the coupon 'anyway'. Anyway??? It isn't expired! How the heck are you doing us a favor by accepting it 'anyway'? Then they changed the story to 'you can use the coupon if you come pick it up'. Apparently they weren't going to deliver it because they were already doing us a favor. The only issue is they had multiple coupons in this Falcons Premium Discount pack and had delivered to us with a previous coupon. After being tired of arguing we finally hung up. Five minutes later we get a call back with a message saying if you really want the pizza we'll sell it to you and deliver it. Yeah - your pizza was only average without spit in it. We ordered from you because you were one of the few places that deliver to our neighborhood. We're done with you. Because you wouldn't honor your own coupon for a free cheese pizza that's worth about $5. Good...

I ordered a BLT club sandwich which is a triple decker with fries and cost ten dollars, instead I received a BLT sandwich which only cost five dollars and has no fries + its much smaller. My delivery was received around 7:45pm I promptly called up to tell the woman on the phone (who I assume is the owners wife) about the mistake, she tells me I need to wait for the driver to get back so she could check the ticket. I inform her that it was ordered online and that she could look up the ticket online, she starts catching attitude with me. She said she’ll call me back when the driver gets back I call again in a half an hour (because I’m STARVING) she gets extremely rude and says she’ll call me back when the driver gets back. Well now it’s almost 10:00pm at night (I’m still STARVING) and I’m extremely tired, so I’m going to eat this freezing cold sandwich that I did not order and I OVERPAID for and I still have not received any call back. clearly this woman doesn’t care at all whatsoever that I have been overcharged and received the wrong order. So unprofessional! I hope this bad review against your business was worth the extra five dollars you got out...

I like pizza. Thin New Haven. Foldable New York City style. Chonky deep-dish.

This joint is a Greek-style pizza-and-more carryout type of restaurant. It's also my favorite pizza in the area.

If you're not familiar with Greek-style pizza (as I was not, until I moved to CT), then:

1. It is fairly thick. If you're familiar with Chicago deep-dish, it isn't nearly that thick, but still substantial.
2. The quantity of toppings is commensurate with the overall chonkiness of the pizza.
3. The dough is almost focaccia-like; somehow bubbly, airy, chewy, and substantial at the same time. It also has a fair amount of olive oil compared to Italian-style pies.
4. Don't let the price scare you. Most pizzas are about double the cost of Dominos. The pizzas are more than double the amount, so you easily break even. Also, every two large pizzas gets you a free small cheese pizza.

I can usually eat five or six pieces of Domino's pizza. Here, I usually eat two; three is way too much.
