Hot garbage. I'm not kidding... Hot garbage. We thought we would try China Kitchen as an alternative from our usual place since we were going to be near Groveland. We opted to pick it up and bring it home. The online ordering process was actually really easy to navigate and convenient. The inability to pay for it online, is disturbingly useless. We ordered a chicken (General Tso's) and a pork (roasted pork with spicy garlic sauce) entree along with the more common sides of egg rolls, spring rolls, and crab rangoon. These are basic, every day Chinese fare, that almost every Americanized Chinese restaurant should be able to make somewhat palatable. China Kitchen failed.... Miserably. The chicken was over fried and actually tasted old. The sauce looked like red Kool-Aid was added and it had zero flavor. The pork was chewy and so hot it wasn't remotely edible. The crab rangoon had been fried, frozen, and fried again. The white filling, which was something similar to cream cheese, had separated and became mealy. The egg roll wrapper was similar in texture to chewing a rubber band. The cabbage in both the egg roll and spring roll, was browned and no viable texture. That was the only discernible ingredient we could figure out. The rice provided with entrees was mediocre at best and clearly wasn't fresh. We tossed the entire order into our farm animal vittles bowl and ended up making sandwiches. Which actually turned out great. 👍🏼. Yaaaay sandwiches. Boo...
Read moreBland. I love Chinese food and I have low standards for it. China Kitchen broke those standards. Months ago I went there and ordered a lunch combo (fried rice, general tso, eggroll) and the food tasted stale and not as flavorful. Tonight, I ordered the dinner special to give them a second chance. For $9.90 I got the same thing but a dinner special (and an extra eggroll) that had worse qualities than before. The general tso had an almost flavorless rubbery exterior with the interior melting in my mouth, not in a good way. The fried rice was boring with only chopped onions to accompany it. The eggrolls were somewhat burnt, and flavorless as well. Edited: Upon looking at the other reviews, like the 5 star raters, they seem to like the fact the food was served fast which I can agree that it was, too fast even for them to properly prepare. These chefs (China Kitchen's) obviously do not taste the food they cook or aknowledge the bad reviews...
Read moreWe placed an order today of honey chicken, wonton soup, hot and sour soup and lo mein noodles. They gave us sesame chicken which tasted like salt and told us its their honey garlic chicken, it was a salty, soggy breaded mess that tasted awful. The hot and sour soup was a brown gravy with no vegetables or tofu, as all hot and sour soups have. The lo mein was dry and contained no sauce. This place is close and convenient to me but the food is horrible. How they can call themselves a Chinese restaurant and serve food that is better suited for a dumpster is beyond me. We do not need perfection but spending our money on food this bad is insulting. We call there and let them know about our order and received only excuses. We wish we could get a decent place around here, but for now we will have to settle for driving to clermont to number 1 wok, where they make actual...
