If I could give it zero stars, I would. Three separate parties drove about an hour or more from different cities in FL to meet for a birthday lunch for me. The reviews looked great so this restaurant and central location for us to rendezvous seemed ideal. We were all highly disappointed. My children and I arrived a few minutes before the other two parties. There were 5 people total for our lunch. I had a moment alone with the waitress and mentioned that it was our first time there and, the other two people arriving, that it was also their first time coming. We all were driving at least an hour each to meet up and that it was a birthday lunch for me. I gave her a total heads up. I wanted a nice waitress/dining experience.
The food was mediocre at best. The sushi fish was not as cold as it should be. The portions of fish on the sushi were very skimpy, especially for the prices. The ginger salad dressing was awful. Never had the dressing taste like that. None of us ate it. The soup was ok. The hibachi food was very small portion and meh. All was way overpriced. But, it would have been "ok". We just never would meet up there again. But, the service. The service would have ruined even the best food.
I waitressed years ago and have a keen eye for servers. I also worked for a company who secret shopped restaurants, too. I do have a special place for servers because I know firsthand, it is a tough profession and I normally enjoy graciously tipping. Well, the waitress was horrible. An understatement. If there was a worse word to use, I would use it. I clued her in as soon as we arrived about our entire party. I gave her tons of information for nice small talk. I wanted a decent lunch with friends we rarely see. Plus, it was for my birthday. She could have cared less. Not only that, we were actually neglected. We barely had any service. There was only one other table for her to tend to while we were there. My friend waited for what seemed to be an eternity to get her iced tea. The sushi was brought out with no soy sauce dishes. I had to ask 3 times for them. I was going to walk over and get them myself when she finally brought them. All of our dishes remained on the table for the courses. It got cramped. I had to ask who I thought may be the owner to have somebody clear them. My daughter (11y.o.) accidentally spilled the soup she didn't like. I had to jump up to avoid the spill. First of all, that bowl should have never been sitting there as long as it did. It was in the mess of unremoved dishes. Second of all, the waitress saw me have to abruptly jump up. She ignored us. The soup was everywhere. I went over and asked her to please come help us clear the dishes and to bring a rag. I was going to help clean the soup up. Nope. She just threw a tiny stack of napkins down on the table, still did not clear any dishes and walked away. I had to get the owner (or presumably the owner) to help the situation. By the way, I was standing the entire time because the soup was on my seat and floor. A few napkins weren't going to make a dent. The other lady did clean everything up and took away all of the dishes we were finished with. Never spoke a word, though. We had gifts bags and cards on the table. Thank goodness they didn't get wet. At one point , I used the restroom. While gone, my friend asked the waitress if they could do a little something since it was for my birthday. Her response? "No, we don't do anything." Short and curt. My friend actually apologized to me when she told me this because she felt bad and did try. So, we will never be returning to this restaurant. We will never recommend it unless you are searching for overpriced mediocre skimpy proportioned food with 100% neglectful service. Date of our visit was...
Read moreWe always have a great experience... we've been going here since 2017 since we moved to Groveland, and we've always had a great experience, and great food! We've gone in about half the time we order and have sat to dine in a few times and again, always have a great experience. The wait staff is always attentive and helpful. It is a little pricey, but it's worth it in our opinion. I don't expect the wait staff to be kissing our butts the whole time, and I'm not one to want to bugged a whole lot either while dining in, and I still feel they do a great job. Just enough and not so annoying that you can't eat in peace. For all the people complaining of the service, I wonder how much you want the wait staff to be waiting on you.. there's usually other people in there where they can't just cater to one person. AND, no I don't know people that work there personally, it's just annoying to hear (read) someone complain about a server/host's attire being any type of way... If you don't buy them their wardrobe, don't speak on it because at the end of the day its WORK clothes that may or may not get dirty often.. this isn't a corp. office, it's a restaurant at the end of the day.. and on top of that.. you don't know people's situations to be commenting on something so stupid like that.. it's neither here nor there about...
Read moreIf I could give it a zero, I would. So I decided to try out this place for lunch and ordered some sushi rolls and a few other items. Let’s just say the sushi was not sushi, it was more like a pound of rice. The rice that was wrapped around my sushi was a day old, it was not even sushi rice, the rice wrapped around the sushi literally 2 times. I ordered a basic California roll and a shrimp tempura roll and if you can’t that right, I can’t imagine what the other rolls looked and taste like. The California roll and shrimp tempura roll did not taste like them at all. Soy sauce was extremely salty, miso soup was just salt water, the only thing that was decent was the pork dumplings I ordered and the only reason those tasted decent was because they didn’t make it, they just fried the frozen packaged dumplings and placed them in their foam container. This will be my first and last time ordering from this place. Please invest a little bit of quality in your food, instead of serving garbage. I seriously do not understand how this place has so many good reviews and people like the food, I guess they haven’t had real good quality sushi and hibachi. I am going to submit a complaint to the Florida Health Department and make sure this place...
