Good day, my name is Mike Hilliard and I wanted to share my experience at your Groveland Subway store Sunday. Mind you we have been patrons here since we moved to Groveland in 2015.
We arrived in the afternoon, no customers were in the store. A young man and another worker were in the back. The young man came out and asked what breads we wanted and we explained we wanted four footlong sandwiches. The other worker came out and looked away and mumbled something. I asked her to look at me and to repeat what she was saying. I explained that I am hard of hearing and I needed the person to look at me so I could understand.
I am an older man with a hearing challenge, I did not have my hearing aids in so I was unable to understand this employee. That’s it. That’s my whole issue.
Your employee walked away repeatedly during the sandwich making while mumbling under her breath. When the person returned I asked what pronoun they went by as I wasn’t sure, with no name tag and a shirt that said spicy, I wanted to be respectful.
I never raised my voice, called them names, or tried to make them feel small. I just couldn’t hear this person. I can accept that she (as she identified herself) didn’t acknowledge us when we entered, didn’t engage or promote this store in a positive light. But when she took our picture and said she was calling the police, that caught me off guard.
For the record, I am happy to talk to you and her and or the police if necessary. Her customer service is poor, her professionalism is absent, and I could not understand what she was mumbling.

Read more5-Star Experience with One Employee (Evan).
I visited this Subway location recently, and my experience was a tale of two extremes. The first employee I encountered was absolutely magnificent. Evan greeted me with a warm smile, took the time to listen carefully to my order, and was incredibly attentive to the details. He was fast, clean, professional and pleasant throughout the entire interaction. His customer service skills were top-notch, and he genuinely seemed to care about making my experience great. Also, he was the only one wearing his name.
Unfortunately, my experience with the second and third employee was the complete opposite. this employees seemed lost and uninterested. I felt like my order was more of a nuisance than a customer transaction. There was little to no engagement. While I was thrilled with the service from the first employee, I hope the entire staff can aim to meet the same standard. Overall, a mixed experience but with clear potential for improvement. We made an online mobile order. Went to pick it up and were notified that they were out of our requested item, and they needed to void the transaction issue a refund of our mobile order, we would have to pick out a new item then reorder with the new in stock item,and repay for everything because and I quote, " the company will think we are stealing the sandwich if it's not done this way", because they have to keep track of inventory. We would have to wait for our bank to give us the refund in 7-14 days. So we would have to pay double the amount for a sandwich today. We voided the transaction, left with no food, and just went elsewhere. They didn't even notify us they were out of the inventory until we showed up for our order and this entire situation unraveled.
