If paradise had a flavor, it would taste exactly like visiting Michell’s Tropical Treats in downtown Groveland. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by ocean-blue walls, gentle ukulele tunes, vibrant tropical décor, and the sweet aroma of toasted coconut drifting through the air. Their Caribbean-inspired vibe instantly transports you to a breezy island shore.
Their Sea Turtle flavor (yes, named after the majestic sea turtle gliding through warm tropical seas) is pure magic—swirls of caramel and fudge with crunchy pecan “shell” bits, all in a velvety vanilla base that somehow captures the calm of the ocean. The Black Cherry is bursting with real fruit, tangy yet smooth—like summer in a spoon. Then there’s the Coconut Crush, a dreamy blend of creamy coconut and tropical sunshine that makes you feel like you’re sipping from a beachside coconut under the palms. And don’t even get me started on the Triple Peanut Butter, three layers of peanut-perfection (silky peanut butter, crunchy peanut bits, Reese’s!) that’s absolutely addictive.
Every scoop here tells a story, and every visit feels like a mini‐vacation. Whether you’re a beach bum, a flavor adventurer, or just craving a cool escape, Michell’s Tropical Treats is your sweet island getaway. 🌺🍦🐢

Read moreLet me start by saying my initial thoughts about this shoppe were completely off. As an islander, I was skeptical about the "tropical" ice cream they offered, but I was so wrong.
This is, hands down, the best ice cream I’ve ever had—dare I say, in my entire life. The shoppe is vibrant and welcoming, and the employees reflect that warmth with their friendly smiles and enthusiastic hellos. They offer 32 mouthwatering flavors, all made with high-quality ingredients.
As the doubtful islander I am, I went in to try the flavors inspired by Antigua and ended up falling head over heels for the Sand Dollar and Dark Wood Beach combination. I had so much fun sampling their offerings, and after indulging in two big scoops (often, and way too frequently), I never experienced the usual bubbles or discomfort I get with other ice creams.
If you’re in the Winter Garden, Clermont, Groveland, or surrounding areas, this is definitely the place to visit. Be sure to try a flight of ice cream—you can even share it with a loved one for a special treat.
Mr. Mitchell, it was a pleasure meeting you, your son, and your grandsons. ...
Read moreThis place hits the nail on the head for delicious ice cream, great customer service and awesome atmosphere. Tried this place after church and I’m soooo glad I did! I’m from out of state and so sad I found this place on my last day.
There are so many flavors to choose from (both classic and VERY interesting) and the prices are VERY reasonable for this caliber of ice cream. We bought the flight which was $11 and comes with 4 scoops. If you have a group with a variety of tastes (and anyone picky) it’s great; the flavors don’t touch and I love that hahaha they let you sample. My favorite was the Key Lime Pie ice cream — TO DIE FOR!!
Seriously, they’re so kind in here and the decor is lovely. You can tell this place is someone’s dream, as it is just carefully decorated and curated. I absolutely recommend supporting this small local business. A not-for-long hidden gem...
