My wife and I went in to eat at Butcher’s Block today, and it was not a good experience. The server was nice and attentive, but that was the only good part of the experience.
We waited a while to get sat which is fine. After they “cleaned” the table and we sat down, the table was still very disgusting, with food all over. I wiped it off myself. After we put our order in, we waited quite a while to receive our food, only for it to be.. not good. The biscuits and gravy was essentially fine, but there was only one small chunk of sausage which is disappointing. Sadly to say, that was the best part of the meal.
The side of bacon was somehow over cooked and undercooked at the same, as if they left part of it cooking too long and the other parts either curling up or overlapping something else so it wasn’t cooked.
I also ordered hash browns with American cheese… this was so bad I had to send it back to have them redo it. It was a mixture of overcooked hash browns soaked in grease/oil and the other side was not cooked, and the cheese was melted on that side. Just looking at it was disgusting. I somehow managed to try a bite and spit it back out.. it was as disgusting as it looked.
After they redid the hash browns I was done eating the rest of the meal. The hash browns looked much better this time around and tasted much better, but they made it with cheddar instead of American.
My wife had to grilled cheese. She told me after the meal that it was burnt, although she did not complain about it at the time.
We will not be...
Read moreUpdate.... February 10, 2025 We decided to take a drive back to Butcher Block for breakfast this morning. It's a bit of a hike but we knew it was well worth it. We were greeted by a smile and warm greeting from Pam. She is a real gem. We sat at our table and had coffee in front of us quickly. After a few minutes we both ordered the exact thing, Country Fried Steak and Eggs with a Biscuit. Just like the last time, absolutely delicious. Sausage Gravy was well make with big chunks of sausage and really creamy served over a nice crispy Country Fried Steak. The hash browns were nice and crispy on one side and three was a nice portion. The highlight was Pam. She is a great old school server. In NJ I would call her the classic "Diner Waitress." Great personality mixed with fantastic service. She really was one of the best at her job and we will totally go back to see her and enjoy another breakfast. Outstanding. We stopped in in a Monday morning after dropping off my car for servicing nearby. We had looked at the menu online so had a good idea what we wanted. We made it easy and we both had the Country Fried Steak breakfast, two eggs over easy with hash browns and a biscuit. The biscuit came out first and it was huge. A bit heavy but good flavor. The steak was fantastic but the hash browns were a work of art. Perfectly crispy and not overdone. This will be a definite return for...
Read moreSome times you find those hidden gems or hole-in-the-wall kind of places that just blow you away... this is not one of them. We had the most unnecessary confusion when we tried to get seated. We asked if we could just seat ourselves outside and were told no. Then we had to follow the server outside and they told us to pick any table....sooo, seat ourselves??Coffee was not strong at all. This is all nitpicky and can be forgiven, until we ordered the veggie omelets and the eggs came to our table undercooked. We could clearly see the loose whites from the eggs jiggling on the plate when we touched it with our forks. This can make people sick and is really concerning that the cooks couldn't tell when the eggs were properly cooked and instead served their guests raw eggs. When we told the server, they offered to remake the omelets but left the undercooked food on our table instead of trying to clear it away. The omelets were super small, used canned mushrooms and were just extremely disappointing. There are much better breakfast places around for the same cost that actually use good and fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, this was...
