My girlfriend and I were so excited to try chapter one. We work in the field nearby and had heard such great things. We arrived for dinner around 6:10 and had a seat in the dining room. At the time, there was one table of 6 people in the entirety of the dining room. I believe the patio, however, must have been busy.
While our waitress was polite, it took 25 minutes for our first two cocktails and appetizers (which were ceviche and 2 single shrimp cocktail and did not have to be cooked). Unfortunately for us, after the appetizers arrived, we waited another 25 minutes before I got up to order our next round (waitress never returned to check in) while we waited for our two entrees.
At 7:45, our neighbors of six people, who arrived 10 minutes after us, and ordered their dinners after us, finally got their meals, although 3 of 6 were incorrect. At this point we still had not received our 2nd drink order nor our entrees. So we had been there 90 minutes for two drinks and two cold appetizers. The drinks arrived and the manager came over to let us know that we were up next.
After another ten minutes we decided that we were going to leave, two hours later. The restaurant actually charged us for some of the drinks which is surprising given their service, or I guess not surprising.
Now being in the industry we both understand that things can get tied up. However, the absolute lack of communication from our server to even say, I apologize for the wait. It will be up shortly, can I get you another drink? Never happened! It wasn’t until 90 minutes of waiting did a manager come over, and the server only showed her face after the manager came over. 90 minutes to receive drink number two. Learn from the mistake and be better. We personally will not be back, but Hopefully improvements are made particularly with customer service or I fear there will be many more cases...
Read moreWent out for an evening with my siblings and our spouses and was very excited to try chapter one. We had a reservation but unfortunately had to wait in the driveway and then in the Adirondack chairs for more than half an hour before we were seated. The fire pit & ordering drinks was nice and this wouldn’t have been a big deal alone. We then waited very long periods of time to get each type of menu, waters, utensils, and place our orders - although our water was very kind and attempting to be attentive, it was clear that he was completely overwhelmed and the restaurant was totally overbooked. All the tables around us had the same experience - constantly looking around wondering where the waiter, drink, food, or bill was. We finally got our food and only 4 of 5 of us were served. I waited patiently, thinking that the kitchen was just backed up, but 10 minutes later my dinner wasn’t there and I flagged down the waiter who hadn’t noticed. Another 20 minutes passed and everyone had finished, the waiter had come back and assured me it was coming but I still hadn’t gotten any food. Another 5 and it finally came. I thought for sure they’d comp my meal or our drinks but half an hour later when we had to ask twice for our bill, nothing was removed. We had been there for hours and were ready to go home so we just paid and left but it was disappointing. The menu is great, fantastic cocktails, super patio, and the waiter was very friendly but the kitchen is woefully understaffed and the management completely overbooked the place. I want to say I’d come again but I’m not sure - definitely not with anyone I’m trying to impress or if I ever have somewhere to be within 3 hours. I hope they...
Read moreIt really bothers me to have to write this review but our dinner tonight was a huge disappointment. We have been here a couple of times for lunch on the back deck and it was excellent. Trinity and Crystal are great - absolutely love these young ladies. So sweet and attentive. We loved their lobster rolls and burgers.
We went tonight for dinner. We ordered the Pasta Fagioli and Onion Soup for appetizers - excellent! After that - that is where things went wrong. The presentation of the Honey Shrimp and Arugula Salad were pathetic. My wife’s salad was drenched in dressing and sun-dried tomatoes. The best thing about the salad was the grilled chicken. My Honey Shrimp looked like it was tossed in the bowl with undercooked asparagus on top. So disappointing. We usually go to Prime for dinner but wanted to go to Chapter One because we really enjoyed their lunch. To charge what they charge for dinner - they really need to step up their game. We won’t be back for dinner.
I appreciate the offer from Shana for a free dinner - but that is not why I wrote this review. My wife and I will be back on our own dime. Thank you Shana - we will be back and will give you all a second chance - but we will not let you know when we will be back.
My wife and I came back the other day. The meatball soup, lobster roll, and pesto panini were excellent. Shana has taken our review to heart and has made the necessary adjustments to propel her restaurant to our 5-Star review. Thank you to the staff for a great experience. Love those Black...
