My husband and I visited Amarone Restaurant this evening for dinner. As other reviewers have mentioned, the prices for the specials are very high. For a salad, an appetizer special, an entrée special and one draft beer, our bill was over $100 with tip. I ordered the caesar salad which tasted strongly of anchovies, something that was not detailed in their menu. I had my husband try it and he felt it was too much as well. I didn't want to be rude and send it back, so I let the waitress know that the salad tasted too fishy and asked if we could have the salad packaged to go. Our waitress who was initially very attentive became visibly irritated. She did not acknowledge what I said and sent a busboy over who asked if I wanted my salad packaged. She made her rounds to the other tables around us before returning in 15 minutes or so to ask me if there was anything else I wanted to order instead. Her actions felt disingenuous as if she realized that her service earlier when she was annoyed was poor. At this point, my husband had shared some of his meal with me and the kind busboy brought us some more bread. I was not going to order another meal while my husband was almost finished with his. Our waitress never addressed anything I said about my meal and I was not one to bring up the issue further. The two stars are for the ambiance and hardworking busboys who refilled our waters and cleared our plates. My husband and I will not be returning due to the terrible service we...
Read moreI only wish this restaurant had lived up to our expectations, We were told this was the most outstanding restaurant in Connecticut by a friend. It was So disappointing that I would be hard to recommend it I’d like to come back eventually and give it another chance. Maybe it was a bad night. The first thing was the waiter was very abrupt when we asked for separate checks he told us there was no way. We dine out a lot and never have a problem with that, sometimes we drink more than our friends and don’t want them to pay for them. He left the the table without taking our drink order or telling us the specials not to return for 20 minutes. When we asked where he had been he said he had taken a walk. After ordering our dinner it was not served for 45 minutes , at least. But 4 other tables came and left as we waited. The dinner was served cold to three of us, only one came hot. My pappadelle a la casa was swimming in cold milk. The one dinner that came hot was the broccoli rabe and sausage over cavetelli. The brozino besides being cold tasted like scrambled eggs. And the gnocchi was meager and cold. He never offered any Parmesan cheese nor came back to see if we were happy. All in all out of sync and not even the salads were tasty. How do you ruin a Caesar salad? By the way, the bread was great! So go have a basket of bread and a cocktail and hopefully you won’t get there while 4 children are...
Read moreI suggested to 3 friends of mine for us to go to Amarones on Sun. April 29, at around 5:30pm. We had enjoyed it when it was Carsons previously. When we walked in it took a long time to get anyone's attention. Waiters walked around, the bartender didn't look at us, so I finally flagged a waiter to seat us. We like the lounge with it's high tables, so we were seated there. Then we waited..... and waited. No one approached us. I got up to again flag the server who sat us who told me that the bartender normally would take care of us. I asked him if he would and reluctantly agreed. The drinks were great and the food very good. in conclusion, good food, poor service.
I went last night, Sat. May 19, 2018 to Amarone with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I called at 5:45pm to make a 7pm reservation, the host Cadence said, "Absolutely". And on a busy Sat night too. It started a little rough with no server approaching us for a drink order. After quite a long time and watching the couple next to us talk to a waiter, after they sat long after we had, I asked a busser to help us. Bruno came and solved everything. We started with the rapini & sausage appetizer, followed by 2 entrée specials: the Mediterranean Sea bass florentine and the Salmon ravioli with shrimp. They were delicious. Our 2 glasses of red wine were pleasantly comped for our wait. We took home a cannoli dessert to go. We will...
