Fleur De Lis Gourmet Bakery absolutely deserves 5 stars. Since Twelfth Night me and my King Cake Krewe have been conducting a King Cake Krawl (yes, this is a thing in my world). Today we purchased their version of a king cake or more accurately Praline Pecan Cream Cheese Pithivier. To those looking for a "traditional" New Orleans-style king cake, this is NOT for you. But, if you are looking for high-class French patisserie, this is the place for you. Having lived in Europe for many years, this cake reminds me of the galettes I would get from patisseries in France every year.
The pastry is extremely flaky. The bottom was NOT soggy. Overall, the cake is not overly sweet (which is perfect in my opinion). The filling manages to be decadent and light at the same time and the amount of cream cheese is exactly right. Decoration is subtle and elegant but makes a statement you would expect looking into the patisserie case at a high-end shop in Paris. Highly satifying cake is rich and one slice will leave you wanting more.
The shops attendants were EXTREMELY HELPFUL, friendly, highly knowledgeable, and polite. We also got a couple of cookies for the ride home. They were all very good so grab a handful for the ride home.
Bravo, Fleu De Lis! Keep up the...
Read moreUnbelievably good Danish and pastry items for a little small bake shop. The apple Danish along with the maple pecan Danish items were some of the BEST I've ever had. They could make a living just selling those items. I didn't really try anything else - i'm not a cookie person. The Danish items on the top shelf as you walk in are their specialty and they are superb. One or two of them will fill you up for most of the day. Delicious! Especially good when You've got a long road trip- why waste money on those awful Dunkin donut fast food items when you can come here? These guys should be baking for the local casinos- their Danishes would keep the crowd coming back. THe next time you're passing thru on I-10 you should drop down like on Lorrain road exit and give them a try. Get there on a tues- thurs late morning before they sell out- they don't make a lot of them to keep their costs down and usually the Danish items...
Read moreGREAT and AMAZING quality and taste. To Tanya Davis the girl that posted that the price was too high and quality not good. I am sure if you truly were not happy they would of refunded your money but since you did not mention a refund that means it was delicious and you ate it all so there was none left for a...
