Woody's Roadside Gulfport — Restaurant in Gulfport

Food was great, service was awful. Servers name was Chris, white guy, black hair. He disappeared for a while and we had to wait too long on refills, by the time he came back we had 5 cups that needed refills, and it took a while to get our food. Don't know if that was his issue or the kitchens issue. Also the way he talked to us was rude, unfriendly, he seemed irritable and intimidating when we asked questions. Like our question was about birthday desert he was rude, and aggressive telling us repeatedly WE DONT DO THAT HERE, i couldnt even finish my sentence without him interrupting me to say we dont do that here for the 3rd time, we tried to explain that we were there just 2 weeks prior and had it done, he came back and tried to intimidate us into telling him who the server was. We steadily kept telling him never mind don't worry about it but he just wouldn't drop the issue until I got stern with him. Like I get it you don't do it... but let me finish asking before interrupting me, let me finish telling you what I wanna say before cutting me off. I 10000% do not recommend this server. The food was good, as usual. We come here often and this was our 1st bad experience. Bc of this server I feel like the atmosphere was a 1 star bc the bitter attitude he had ruined my mood for the night. I cannot stand bitter, grumpy ppl, I should have asked for a manager and just put him in his place right then and there but I don't like confrontation and I feel like at the moment I would have said much meaner things. 4 adults & 3 kids arrived for dinner about 730pm. Only a small wait for a table of 7. Waiter was slow to arrive but was apologetic. He took our drink orders and returned shortly with our drinks & asked if we wanted to order apps. We did & also ordered entrees at the same time. Apps & 2 salads arrived shortly but we soon realized that there was only 1 set of silverware on the table. We went to bar to ask for another silverware but could not catch bartender’s attention. Waiter returned after a bit and We requested more silverware. He obliged after another lengthy wait. 6 of 7 entrees arrived after about a total wait time of 35 minutes. 7th entree had still not arrived after 80 minutes of total wait time. Waiter stopped by to check on us & we requested the 7th entree to go & two more drinks. Another 20 minutes & still no drinks. Manager shows up & explains that he had discounted the 2 drinks & 7th entree as per our request. He was not apologetic at all. The server being overwhelmed by trying to serve too many customers at once is understandable and we left the server a 20% tip, however the manager’s attitude is not acceptable. We will not go back. There are too many places to go eat and spend your hard earned money that have good food with respectful managers that take responsibility when things are less than they should be. Shout out to server Chris!!!!

We are here on Saturday, July 20th while being on vacation. We were served by Chris and he was very apologetic for the wait. My kids wanted soda but he informed us he had just cleaned the filter and it would need about 15min to get cold and not be flat. I appreciated the heads up, I ordered the rum runner and it was delicious.

Chris was great about talking to the cook about my son’s food allergies and how he could be accommodated!Chris was very knowledgeable, advised my son he could not have the fries but the sweet potato fries would be safe for him. Chris did a great job writing all of his allergies down to ensure his safety. My son got a 1/2 rack of ribs, but they looked more like 1/4 rack. They were safe for my son and Chris was so great we didn’t say anything.

He made a great recommendation to my daughter on a seafood dish as well, and a side of Mac & cheese that was really great! My husband got the prime rib sandwich and sweet potato fries but they accidentally gave him regular fries.No big deal.I had a chicken sandwich with fries. I’ll be honest, the chicken was a little bit “off”, and kind of gummy so I stopped eating it.It was a massive piece of chicken, no skimping here!!! The fries were bomb though!
