Here is a very honest review of the new Hwy 55 in Guntersville. I was one of those folks that followed their Facebook page and was excited to see them open. I waited a few weeks for the rush to slow before I visited, and went this past Sunday around 11am. There were roughly 10 customers and at least 18 employees (I was shocked at how staffed they were). We ordered burgers, shakes, and a combination of french fries, onion rings and tater tots.

Good: -The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Made you feel like a valued customer -Service was relatively fast, but I would have expected that with a 2:1 employee to customer ratio -The chocolate shake was good, and the burgers were decent (needed a larger beef patty and a fresher bun but the taste was ok)

Bad (really Bad): -We had two different waitresses and the first one didn't talk to the second one (forgot to bring ketchup, utensils, etc) -It seemed like much of the staff was just chatting with one another. Not my business but I didn't see many helping each other out (maybe due to overstaffing and would be stepping over each other) -Had to ask for the bill multiple times -Attempt #1 - The fried food was a nightmare (hence the 2 stars) - cold and soggy - the fries, tots and onion rings. So we bring it to the waitresses attention and they gladly agree to bring fresh sides. We figured it would be a fresh batch right out the fryer.

Attempt #2 Nope! They just placed it under a heat lamp warmer for a few minutes and brought us back the same exact soggy sides! I was shocked. The people working either have zero common sense or just don't care.

So we -again- bring it to the waitresses attention, and they seem embarrassed and promise to correct the issue.

Attempt #3 (fries, onion rings, tots) - this time they did bring a new batch (not reheated under the warmer lamp), BUT they were still not hot, nor crispy. And in the photo I posted in this review, somehow the fries were a combination of regular fries and crinkle cut fries (which Hwy 55 doesn't even serve). So bizarre - where is the quality control?

So I am now thinking their fryer is broken, set to the wrong temperature, and /or the kitchen staff responsible for fried sides is not at all trained properly. How can you screw up fries / sides 3 times, even after manager was alerted? They need to go train over at McDonald's.

All that to say, we sort of enjoyed our burgers and milkshakes and gave up on the fries/onion rings/tots.

No plans to give Hwy 55 another try. May just visit for their ice cream (drive thru) and buy hot meals (fast food) elsewhere with so many new options here in Guntersville and the surrounding area.

Seeing all of the other 1-star reviews, I'm definitely not alone in my experience. We waited over a month after the Grand Opening so would have thought any training issues would have been worked out by now.

Hope this review helps someone planning...

I have given this place a few tries since it opened and the food quality has been terrible. Recently ordered a hamburger, french fries and onion rings. There was only one other customer in the store. No one was in drive through line. So being busy was not an excuse for the cold hamburger, cold fries that seemed to have been cooked and re-cooked, and onion rings that were a mushy glob. The food was basically inedible and I threw it out the minute I got back to work after my lunch break.

I've watched the traffic go down at this place since the large amount of business they had when they first opened.

It seemed this place had great potential with the great menu they have, but it seems to be poorly operated and the owners and upper management don't seem to be reacting to the problems they obviously have.

I even gave the one in Boaz, AL a try by just ordering a hamburger.. it was cold and hastily thrown together. And not one other customer was there. I predict both these locations will be vacant at this time next year unless drastic changes are made. I know the employee pool is weak in this area, but there are still some in this area that take more pride in their work than what I'm...

I was so excited to eat lunch there today! It was horrible! I only ate 2 small bites of the burger. The quality of meat has to be the bottom of the food chain. Nothing but grissel and just nasty. It even smelled nasty. The filler in this meat looked like orbies. I have never seen anything like it. No seasoning or salt or anything. I could of bought a tube of chub meat for what I paid for this and ate for a few days. I just don't get it!!! Why would you serve this low quality so called beef. Look at that burger when you get it. I never write reviews on places I eat but this has to be said. Just nasty!!! I took my older daughter there for her birthday and we both couldn't believe the quality of this burger. I understand you just opened and over looked how long it took. That is expected with a new place opening. It had nothing to do with how it was cooked. It is all about what you are serving us to eat. This makes me never want to eat out again. I still can't understand what was in this patty. I don't blame the employees I blame who ever is cutting corners. I can't take this first bite back and seeing...

If you eat inside they have servers not typical fast food restaurant style. They have a robot that delivers food in addition to servers. We went during a busy wknd lunch and the food came out in less than 10 minutes. Pimento cheese burger was very good. The #1 Americana burger wasn't. Fries were soso, tots were good. They also only use Pepsi products. Overall it was ok-to-good but not a place you'll be dying to go back to either. I'd rather have Whataburger. Lowered rating to a 3 from a 4 because ownership/management added like 20 pictures of the place that are from a different location. That's shady. Seriously walk outside and take photos of actual place. Lame.

I was excited to eat here and try their ice cream. I didn’t like that I couldn’t order online to pick it up, but I went anyway. After some waiting I finally got to order, only to find out that they were out of what I wanted. Okay, new business, understandable. Finally, after waiting 15 minutes for a cup of ice cream I get it and imagine my displeasure with what I received (see pictures, this is their Oreo Concrete). Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time or money.
