I heard about JD's from a friend who went there and had the Sea & Land plate. Thought I would give it a try even though its location is in the old "Cursed Hardee's Restaurant" (seems like any business that opens there, closes shortly thereafter). I sincerely hope that doesn't happen to this restaurant. My first visit was on this past Friday. I was alone and had time for a sit down meal. The restaurant was mostly empty as it was just a little past 11AM. I was seated right away and my drink order was placed and brought right out. The menu was missing the Sea and Land plate because there is a weekday menu and a dinner and weekend menu. Therefore, I ordered the JD Burger with fries. I figured that if you put your name on it, it better be good. I asked for well done, hold the lettuce. The Burger was perfectly cooked. Hot and extending to the outsides of my perfectly (butter??) toasted bun. I was in and out in 45 minutes. My second trip was the very next day with my wife. I wanted her to try it before, you know, "the curse" happened. Since it was Saturday, I was able to order the Sea and Land plate. The Sea and Land is a very generous helping of strip steak, chicken, and shrimp over a mess of mashed potatoes and covered in a delicious gravy. (see my picture). We ordered Risoto Balls (sausage, rice, jalapeno's, and some other sause all deep fried) and my wife ordered the fried fish strips appetizer as a meal. Ya'll, when I tell you that it was delicious, I'm not doing it justice. The steak and chicken was tender, the mashed potatoes were whipped, the gravy was salty and had a whiff of cajun spices. Not spicy, just spices. The price was reasonable, not cheap, not expensive. I don't mind paying more if they prepare good food and in this case, that is exactly what you get. This place deserves the chance to keep...

Rolled into this establishment around 6pm Friday night. The restaurant was busy, but not full. We were quickly acknowledged and seated by the hostess. Waitress was friendly and prompt, but not hovering. She took our drink orders and came back shortly with waters. Beer selection was more than adequate for the clientele, which seemed to be a lot of locals. I’m not sure if Friday nights are regularly prime rib night, but there was a lot of prime rib exiting the kitchen. Waitress graciously offered to get the last one for us, but instead we ordered the Land and Sea (Grilled steak, chicken, and shrimp on mashed potatoes) and the blackened grouper with shrimp on mashed potatoes. Shrimp were perfectly cooked and tender on the chew from both entrees. Grilled steak could have used some more seasoning and charr while the cook seemed inconsistent between the pieces. Blackened grouper was well seasoned, flaky, and came straight from the pan to the plate hot. The atmosphere was a sports bar, so the large TVs were expected, but indoor vaping from a table of ladies that had spent too much time in the sun cost you a star. Service was fine and tables were bused and cleaned promptly after guest departure. This establishment is worth a try and we’ll go back to try the prime rib...

Ok so got to admit my wife and I tried this place due to most of our "favorite" local restaurants being closed on Sunday. I was expecting a mediocre/decent meal. We did not expect what we got which was hands down 1 of the absolute best steaks I've had in years! My 1 and only complaint was there was a slight mix up and I got a ribeye instead of a New York Strip. But in all fairness my wife mentioned a ribeye to the waitress so honest mistake. I know a lot of people like a ribeye but I'm usually a porterhouse or strip guy. This ribeye was truly incredible! Cooked to perfection, seasoned to perfection, just fantastic. My wife got the shrimp ravioli which she loved. Only constructive criticism we have was way way to much sauce on it. They could of used half or even a quarter of what it came with and it would of been perfect. She will get it again no doubt... 1 last thing with hopes management or the owner reads this. Your sign out front is way way way to small! From the parking lot it's just readable, from the street doing 45 or 50mph it's a blur and far to small...

Next time I'm getting the New York Strip and will have many photos I'll add to my review....

This is a complicated review to write for a few reasons, but I'll break down the good and bad. There was a large selection of food which is nice as they don't have a single theme. The food was all cooked well ,except hush puppies as they were not cooked all the way through. The waitress was attentive and polite. The bad. To start with, be aware of their pricing. The menu prices are not what you are charged. I am not sure if this is the cash vs card pricing shown on the receipt but anyway, people should be made aware of this. Secondly, as seen in the photo, the 6 cheese sticks as stated in the menu is actually only 5. We thought it was an oversight and didn't say anything about it, but then noticed people at the table next to us got the same. They did complain and we're eventually brought another cheese stick. This is little, but either fix the menu or fix the order. Overall, we thought the meal was ok, but not sure we will be racing back to it again.
