I would have rated it at 3 because I found the room a bit inconvenient than other Hamptons I have stayed in. Also, the room looks old. But I was really disappointed the night there was a music event in the conference room right in front of my room. They played until 9:30 PM I guess. It was acoustic and loud; you enjoy it for a few minutes and then you start waiting for it to stop. I had a long day and I still had work to do and read something before I go to sleep. I called the reception to check if they can lower the music. Expected response was not "Okay sir I will ask them to stop"; expected response was "let me see what I can do". The response I received was "Actually there is an event going on and they will play probably only until 9:00." I said that is fine if it is only until 9 as it was already 8:45 when I called. At 9:15 the music was still going and so I walked towards to my door and looked through the peephole just out of curiosity about whats happening. And I see the double doors of the conference room wide open and someone playing an acoustic guitar right next to these doors. I said to myself "wow". The staff did not even bother to walk there to check how loud it was, because if they would have done that, they could have just closed the doors and would have solved my problem. There is a certain level of customer service expected in the hospitality business. It is disappointing to see no effort to resolve customer issue. No "sorry for inconvenience" when called. Staff needs some training. When someone pays to stay at your hotel on a weekday especially at a non-tourist location, they are probably travelling for work. You should not allot rooms so close to the rooms where you are hosting...
Read moreI always stay at Hampton Inns. Just usually enjoy the locations but when my wife and I arrived at the Hampton Inn in Guntersville,AL we were immediately shocked at the condition of this particular location. First of all, the hotel is really in need of an update. Our room was on the second floor which had a very bad odor. My wife said like magic marker but for me it was like the entire floor was a smoking section. I have asthma and it triggered an attack once I got into the room. I had my meds and got better. The carpets in the hallway were very stained and grungy and the wallpaper was peeling everywhere. I felt like this was a Motel 6 instead of a Hilton brand. |And the room…well there was mildew on the caulking in the bathtub and there was well all I can describe as possible dried bodily fluids on a painting next to the bed. I reported it before checkout because that is when I discovered it. At checkout I asked if there was any compensation I could get for a dirty room since Hampton has a 100%satisfaction guarantee. I was only offered a $10 Subway gift card. No refund or anything like that. Very disappointed. The only reason I didn’t give a one star rating in this review is because the breakfast was decent. Sound really carries and there were loud noises from other patrons in the hallway that were very easily heard in the room. As a Hilton Honors member I cannot recommend this place until significant repairs and...
Read moreHorrible customer service! The first two beautiful ladies we encountered at the desk were so welcoming and friendly. From the day of check in forward, rude staff and always on their cell phones rather than greeting people and offering help. My aging and very ill parents were staying here waiting for admission to assisted living - at breakfast on day two, I accidentally broke the leaver off the batter dispenser for the waffles. My mother called out for help twice while the kitchen lady stood there and continued to type on her phone. When the kitchen lady finally came out to help, I apologized, but she rolled her eyes and said nothing to me. She then went in the kitchen and loudly told another worker in an angry voice how customers don’t know what they are doing and how customers keep breaking the machine. I was very upset and told the worker they should put a sign so people know how to operate the machine. I also told her she was there to serve me as a customer. I was absolutely shocked when I met with the manager who told me their employees are not there to serve me as a customer and said she was there during my exchange with the kitchen lady and witnessed the situation; a complete lie because the manager could not describe accurately what was said. This place is an embarrassment to the wonderful Southern hospitality of Guntersville. I recommend staying at the Wyndham. Always a good...
