Betta Taste Caribbean Kitchen — Restaurant in Hackensack

As I sit here writing my review from the bathroom! I can’t believe that I have to do this but my experience today leaves me no choice. I’ve gone to this restaurant since I took residence 6yrs ago in Jersey. Sadly today I decided on eating dinner there which I usually just get lunch from there on my break. I’ve never had a problem until today, when I went there and ordered a mini curry goat with rice. My expectations were of a mouth watering HOT plate of curry goat I usually get at lunch time . I never got that mouth watering dish that I anticipated on, but instead was given old reheated microwaved curry goat! I told the worker who had the audacity to ask me if I needed it to be hotter she would put it BACK in the microwave. If I wanted microwave food I would have definitely gone to the frozen foods section and did just that. I decided to continue eating my lukewarm meal until I eventually tossed in the garbage and left. Now........my stomach feels like a Mack truck hit it! Definitely will think twice about eating from here! Bad and unhealthy experience....

I ordered a large curry goat with rice and peas and cabbage. I specifically requested less rice and more cabbage and explicitly asked for extra gravy. Unfortunately, I did not receive what I asked for. To be fair, this is the driest curry goat I have ever had.

When I called the store to address the issue, I was told that other customers had complained about receiving too much gravy, so the server decided to go “light” on my extra gravy request. I’m baffled—especially after leaving work to pick up this meal. Now, I’m about to meet with a team of contractors and motivate them to meet holiday business goals, all while battling dry curry goat on my tongue.

It’s frustrating to suffer because of someone else’s complaints about gravy. On the positive side, the jerk chicken is good, but honestly, Golden Krust would run circles around this dry goat and pile of rice.

I am a long time customer of Mac's. The food is delicious and I always use their food as a standard if I try food from other places. That said, this weekend I needed rice and peas on short notice for my daughter's Sweet 16 and Mac's came through. The food was ready on time although I was late picking it up. I was running around and got caught up in traffic and other last minute preparations but when I got to Mac's I was greeted with smiles and best wishes. When I placed my order I was apologetic for the last minute request but was told "we are here to serve you and we will be happy to help you in any way".. That meant everything to me. I will definitely continue to be a patron ❤️ P. S. The rice and peas were a hit. Everyone loved it and all evening commented "this is some good rice"...
