Let me start off by saying i usually only come online to leave good reviews. But I have never experienced such a trashy awful experience in a place I'm going to spend money at to eat.
(Keep in mind I was at a funeral and viewing service all day before coming here)
It was 930pm Sunday i called the diner because i know they usually close the kitchen earlier then the closing time which was 11pm... A gentleman answered he was so nice. He said if i arrive by 10:15 you can be seated no problem.
I arrived at 10:08pm with my fiance, a woman instantly came rushing out of the kitchen to say the kitchens closed. I explained to her i just drove 30 minutes to come here because i called before and a man told me i can be seated if I'm here by 10:15... She said " well this is my kitchen and i said it's closed you can't eat here". She had the nastiest tone and face... My fiance was upset she was being so rude to me that he started to get angry so i told him to relax and asked the woman for her name ...she told me I'm not giving you my name and walked away from me... And walked back towards the kitchen.
Then the same gentleman who answer the phone when i called came out of the kitchen.. because she made a huge scene over us not being able to be seated (mind you the diner was filled with people eating) he rushed out and said you spoke to me I'm sorry the kitchen is busy i can seat you I'm sorry about her.
At this point she's giving me ugly looks so i left to avoid eating food that was dropped on the floor or spit on. I have never experienced such an ignorant trashy person (who calls herself the owner of the kitchen so I'm assuming she is management) in a place I'm going to eat at and spend my money at...
I've lived five minutes away from this business for ten years and ate here multiple times.
But Maggie and her trashy attitude have made it clear that I will not eat here anymore nor will my family. And I will make sure to leave reviews on Yelp, Google and any where else I can find.
GREAT JOB MAGGIE YOU ARE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN A "career" THAT REQUIRES GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO MAKE ANYYYYYY MONEY...
Read moreRecently moved to the area so my bf and i decided to give this diner a chance. We walked in very late saturday night/ sunday morning around 2:30am and were greeted by a very nice gentleman at the front (not sure if he was the manager or owner). We were seated for about 5 minutes or so and were greeted by a waitress named Shannon. She didn’t have much to say, just asked for our drink orders, very quick and to the point. My bf and I just thought that she was having a long day since it was in the middle of the night and didn’t think anything of it at that time. She came back with our drinks asked us what we wanted to order and my bf and i probably said thank you at least 3-4 times throughout ordering and not once did she say you’re welcome or acknowledge what we said. Again, we just thought that she was having a bad day. As we’re waiting for our food, a party of 3 walk in and sit down behind us being very loud and obnoxious and our waitress Shannon, goes over there to greet them. Mind you, we’ve been keeping our volume to a minimum to be courteous of others around us. Shannon is at their table for a little while, laughing and smiling and talking with them just hitting it off. My bf and I notice that her whole demeanor has changed from our table to theirs. She brings us our food and again minimal to no conversation between us. To top it all off, she didn’t inform us that we had to take the bill and pay for it in the front. We sat at the table for about 5 min or so until I had to ask her if we payed up in the front and she leisurely said “oh yeah sorry” and walked off after she walked past our table about 3 times and saw the card sitting there. I had to ask HER what to do. I’ve been a waitress for many years and I know how customers want to be treated and that wasn’t it. It really spoiled the whole experience for us as this could’ve been our new go to diner. The food was great but i wish the service matched it. I don’t know if it was because my boyfriend is African American and she has something against that or what because the table behind us were all Caucasian and she had no problem having a conversation with them....
Read moreThe Black Horse Diner of today is 100 times better than the black horse diner of the past which was a real armpit of Mt Ephraim. The newly-renovated joint hosts a plethora of deliciousness and desserts and I do mean a plethora of deliciousness AND desserts. So delicious AND desserty that after MANY MANY YEARS performing The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the HARWAN THEATRE the cast would head to the Black Horse Diner to chow down and replenish our sexy appetites. The late night staff couldn't have been nicer to us lipsticked and fishnettted weirdos. The menu here is vast and varied. So varied I wanted to order the most obscure meal just to see the waitress/waiter panic and try to make up a reason why I couldn't order the broiled sliced London broil for $19.99- "well sir, it's because you can't use the word 'broil' twice when ordering here that's why we're out of it and you can't have it..." (Well that didn't happen, but it's a legit reason. So be warned....) "Okay my friend, slap me an order of Disco fries and a Greek salad-my munchies are kicking in." Everything that I have ever ordered there through the amazing years I have been a patron with my Rocky Horror Troupe the food was always delicious and bountiful except the tuna melt... stay away from the tuna melt it's dry and just horrid. Sorry Black Horse Diner, I don't mean to down your food but your tuna melt could use a Little lovin.
So if you are in the area of Mount Ephraim New Jersey make it a point to head on over to the Black Horse Diner and treat your taste buds to some flavors of ecstasy. And if you happen to arrive around 2 a.m. for a late night feast, listen very closely... you just might hear the old Rocky Horror Picture Show cast cackling and singing songs as they down there iced tea with lemon and drink their coffees: black-all while sexual innuendos with the pickle Spears. And also tipping 50%.
Thank you for all the years of delicious food Black Horse Pike Diner you are a staple in Mount Ephraim New Jersey and a part of many memories of my early misspent...
