I've never had this problem before my most recent visit.
I ordered the the Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp, which is gluten friendly; which is the reason I always order it whenever I go to Applebees. I don't normally disclose that I have a gluten sensitivity when I order there simply because I've never had to when the food I order is listed as Gluten Sensitive on the menu. The server put in the new Bourbon Chicken and Sausage pasta dish, and then basically expected me to just accept the dish and eat it when it got to the table. I told her I can't eat pasta as I have a gluten sensitivity, and that was only when she realized she couldn't pin this on me.
The manager was brought over, half-heartedly apologized and basically blamed me that I hadn't disclosed a gluten sensitivity. I told him I've never had to disclose it before because the dish I actually ordered was listed as being gluten friendly, and it's the same thing I order every time I go to Applebees. I apologized for the misunderstanding, even though I don't believe any of what happened was really my fault. I order the same thing every time, so it doesn't make sense how this would be my fault.
They replaced the dish.
The food itself was good when I got what I actually ordered, but the service itself was definitely sub-par and I won't be returning there for that reason, or at a minimum, not dining in since I can't trust them there to actually put my...
Read moreThis was one of the worst applebees I have ever been to in regards to service. It's located relatively close to where I lived and I ate and drank there upwards of 25-30 times in the last 3-4 years. If it was not for the fact that Applebees has a couple meals that I really enjoy I would have dined elsewhere. The service is extremely slow and on Umass game nights (which is one of the local colleges, and there are 5 total within about 2 miles) it is not even worth trying to go....usually the wait on those nights is 30-45 minutes and i've waited over an hour but what makes it even worse is having to listen to drunk kids conversations about where they got drunk, with who, where they are going to get more drunk, with who, and who they slept with the night before/ who they are planning to "smash", "bang", "hammer" "pound", "screw", "nail", tonight. The food is great and the drinks are decent but overpriced. They use a machine for some drinks so they don't give away any extra drops of alcohol(GOD FORBID A CUSTOMER GET FREE DROPS....THE HORROR!!!). and for drinks like a white russian they measure exactly 1 shot with a shot glass instead of just pouring it in the cup like a bar would do normally. If you have the choice you'll def want to avoid Applebee's in Hadley but not Applebee's overall, they usually are a great establishment other then the bullshit about measuring the exact alcohol so not to give away a...
