I was here Friday night 1/10. Brought the wife and kids and ordered 4 sundaes. Somehow, someway, under the first layer of whipped cream, there was grey hair(or possibly fur as it more likely seemed) in TWO of the sundaes! I was pretty disgsuted with this level of uncleanliness. When i went back to the window to ask for a refund, the older lady scoffed at what i was showing her. She claimed i "had to put it there" myself, as if i would spend gas money and time to drive there and orchestrate a scheme like this.
I instantly gave up trying to convince her that this was the establishment's fault, and asked for a refund. She refused to offer one or any sort of compensaion and told me my business was "not that important".
The tables outside wre filthy, the workers insanely rude, and the inside of the store had a smell of burning machinery wafting out as if it were an automoobile garage instead of an ice cream shop.
I advise eveyone to seek alternative ice cream merchants in town who are mor professional and cleanly, like Bruster's ice cream on Railway Lane. I had my time and money wasted, don't let it...
Read moreThe Big Dipper. A Hagerstown classic! They have a lot of options for soft serve and hand dipped ice cream. There are revolving specials, and I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered here! I also appreciate that their kid sized cup/cone is actually kid sized. So many other ice cream shops give too much for kid sizes, but I know I can count on an appropriate size for my little one here. Plus, they are always quick to sling scoops, even when they're slammed with a line. FYI: The inside of their store has been closed since COVID, but customers can order through the walk up windows. There is not a drive thru here, and the parking lot isn't huge, so when they're busy it can be difficult to find parking. There are also only four tables outside to sit on. Another note; there is no bathroom available for customers. I've been visiting the Big Dipper since I was a kid and now I get to take my kiddo here. Their pink ice cream cone sign is my favorite detail of their shop--I hope they never...
Read moreIf there was an option for 0 stars that’s what I would give this place! First, we waited at least 45 minutes to even order. Second, I’ve never met someone so rude while trying to order. Third, they had no idea how to make anything on their menu. One of us simply ordered a peanut butter sundae, and no where did it say a brownie came it in… but that’s what we received. Also, after we were told they didn’t have peanut butter, so we ordered something different, but then received peanut butter (so confused). One of us ordered the chocolate supreme and they didn’t know how to make it, so we tried to make it easier and order a medium chocolate cone. After receiving the cone, I’m not sure if it was even the size of my pinky finger. AND, we were never given a refund after we paid for what we asked for and never received! Highly disappointed, and we will not be back. Poor attitudes, ice cream,...
