Golden Chicken Hales Corners — Restaurant in Hales Corners

Being that this was my first experience here, I didn't quite know what to expect. It is kind of tucked out of the way and hard to see from the road, it has strange hours 3pm -9pm and is made to order. This is nice if you are wanting fresh food vs paces like kfc where their chicken has been cooking for the past hour under a heat lamp. The only downside to this is that it can take 10-15 minutes. I think I waited 12ish. Not unacceptable for freshly cooked food. You can avoid waiting if you call ahead apparently but I didn't know this until I was in the lobby.

There was only one employee at the place so he did the ordering + cooking, seemed like a decent chap. I ordered a 4pc chicken meal with coleslaw, mashed potatoes and a can of mist. The meal came in a nice container inside a stapled paper bag. Man, my food was still hot when I drove to work 20 minutes away. The chicken was moist but in my opinion I wish it had a little spice to it, otherwise it was pretty decent chicken. The coleslaw and mashed potatoes were pretty excellent. Was it worth...

Omg! Fake reviews! I’m not even finished with my food before I had to run and make a review to stop the next victim of this place. First! Chicken is very small and the grease they use gives it a weird smell and taste. No seasoning and thin breading. I don’t see how they are still in business. All the bad reviews are right about this place. I trusted the good reviews and wasted my money and appetite. I should’ve just went to the terrible McDonald’s next door. I don’t care about the run down “hole in the wall” as long as you have good food. Well this place is terrible. Overpriced, poor quality food. I just threw away a bucket of $30 chicken. I could’ve just drove all the way down to the ghetto of Milwaukee “JJ’s or Sharks” for half the price and better quality of food. I can just go on and on how bad this place is but I’m done. Never again! Trust the 1 star reviews on them people! I wish I could post pictures of this...

The fact that anyone would give this place any type of positive reviews is mind boggling. Maybe it was good at some point but not anymore. I wanted to give Golden Chicken another chance so I tried it a second time a couple months later. It was even worse than the first time.

First, it’s over priced. Second, the chicken tasted funny. It had a nice crisp to it but the oil they use must not be good and the chicken itself has like no flavor. Third, the mashed potatoes. It’s almost as if they poured a bucket of salt in our mashed potatoes. It was so salty, I had to stop after two bites. Fourth, it looks like the owners are just running the store into the ground. Nothing has been updated in YEARS.

The best part about the meal was the coleslaw. You know why? Because they probably didn’t make it.
