My wife got the pizza, and I had lasagna, both very good. Prices are reasonable for the quality food you get. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. All in all, 5 out of 5. If you're in Hallettsville, it's definitely worth the stop.
Update 15 October 2023, we stop by after Church on Sunday. We got there just in time, there was a father and his daughter there when we got there. My wife and I got sat down, and Lee, our server, took our drink order. While he was filling our order. A couple came in and sat down at a booth, and a large group, maybe 6 people with a stroller, sat at one of the long tables. Lee was greeting them and getting their drink orders. Then, a couple of guys came in and sat at one of the other long tables. Shortly after, another group of women came in and sat down with the guys at the long table. Lee brought our appetizers and salad. We got the sliced Italian sausage in fresh marinara with fresh basil sauce. It was totally delicious. We also had lasagna and a personal pepperoni pizza(big enough for two), again, creatures of habit, lol. The atmosphere was alive with activity. While we were eating, another small group of three sat at a booth. Now, Lee was running around taking orders and getting them filled. The food was coming out for the other tables and it was a very enjoyable lunch. The owner/chef came out with some food and greeted a couple of the tables. After we had finished our lunches, we got a cannoli, which Lee made in addition to serving a full dining room. I would give them a 7 out of 5 on this trip. Lee hustled the whole time, and the chef's food was more than we expected. Once again, if you're in the Hallettsville area and you feel like some good Italian food, I strongly suggest you give...
Read moreWe arrived on a Sunday evening just after 530. My wife was skeptical about stopping because there were no cars in the parking lot. Again, it was 530 on a Sunday evening. I'm glad my kids chose we venture in. Vicenza's is a retro-fit of a Dairy Queen or similar restaurant and a fabulous job has been done. The restaurant is inviting with stone walls, welcoming messages to the customers, and appropriate music playing overhead. The server attended to us immediately with drink / food order and follow-up homemade bread fresh from the oven! My salad arrived promptly. It was simple and delicious. My wife order a vegetarian pizza and my son the margherita pizza. It is obvious the dough is house made and coming from a blazing pizza oven. A great product for the zip code! My daughter got the cheese ravioli. Perfect! I got the pasta sampler...a bit of lasagna, beef ravioli, ziti, manicotti, and tortellini. I knew I was over-ordering but wanted to do so to give everything a run! Nothing disappointed! Hallettsville is an under-rated town. There are a lot of great things going on here. Vicenza's is right up there with the Lavaca County Courthouse during Christmas time! BTW...530 was an early arrival. We left at 630 or so and during that time the restaurant had a very nice flow and the drive through was non-stop! For a Sunday night, they had...
Read moreWe had a very underwhelming dinner experience. The bread had zero flavor, we had to spend $2.50 for olive oil and garlic to dip it in. The grilled chicken on the salad smelled horrible and tasted like the grill hadn’t been cleaned. The red sauce looked and tasted like it was from a jar. Very little flavor - we didn’t eat everything, nor did we ask for a box to take it home (which is very unusual for my boyfriend). The icing on the cake was when the waitress brought our ticket and wanted to charge us $2.99 for a cup of ice water, plus another $2.99 for a refill of tea. I cannot recall a time I've been charged for tap water. I will say after I questioned her about it, she took off the drink charges, which wasn’t the point. I was annoyed it was never mentioned about any additional charges when we ordered. They also don’t bring an itemized receipt, so you literally have no idea what you’re being charged for unless you ask. It was just a very bizarre experience and we will definitely NOT be...
