Traverse Coffee Co. has the nicest atmosphere, and the most friendly owner and staff. The pastries I've tried were all super yummy. The coffee isn't the best. I've tried their espresso drinks, regular coffee and pour over, and they all have the same unpleasant taste. The last time I visited I had a pour over coffee, and it took them a very long time to make (at least twenty minutes). I make pour over coffee every morning at home, and it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to make. I'm wondering if the unpleasant coffee taste is coming from the water. I don't know if they filter their water or not, but if they're using the city water, that could definitely be the problem. I've noticed the tap water in the Augusta area had a very strong chlorine smell/taste. We won't drink it. We drive to a spring to collect water for our house. Anyway, it's a really nice spot, definitely worth a visit, and I hope their coffee will improve...
Read moreTraverse Coffee truly is my "happy place". I come here at least once a week and can not recommend it enough! I've tried almost every drink on the menu and they are all delicious as are the pastries and breakfast sandwiches they have to offer. There is plenty of space both inside the shop and outside on the deck so that if you want to stay for a while you can do so without feeling crammed in a small space. I often will bring a book with me and read while I drink my coffee. The prices are more than reasonable for a small, local coffee shop. Both Kyle and Michelle are incredible owners and really make an effort to get to know each and every one of their customers on a personal level. They know all their regulars by name and are always upbeat, friendly and kind. I am so glad they opened up this coffee shop and that I was able to find it! Although my wallet may not be as...
Read moreTraverse Coffee Co makes delicious specialty coffees, and even has seasonal drinks available for a limited time (their pumpkin spice latte is made with homemade pumpkin spice - sooooooo good and only available through October 31). There are also non coffee items available - a variety of teas, hot chocolate, and cold drinks in a small fridge if coffee, tea, or hot chocolate sound good. I had the pumpkin spice latte and a mocha the next day. Breakfast sandwiches and pastries were very tasty. I was only in Hallowell for a few short days, but saw that the owner had created a warm and welcoming shop feel, and could tell that the...
