Krauszer's Food Stores — Restaurant in Hamden

I bought candy (Shockers in case you're interested) after I saw they had them because it'd been a long time since I last had them. I open the package and the candy was all old and sticky, like it had been on the shelf during an extremely hot summer, then melted and sat on the shelf for a while till I decided to buy a pack. They're similar to sweet tarts for those unfamiliar with them, their packing is like mentos. They're supposed to be chewy but they were clearly way past their prime. Never thought I had to check expiration dates on candy but now I do, always!! I always assumed stores removed old items but apparently that is not the case in this particular store. Haven't gone back since this occurred because I feel I can't trust what they're selling to be...

I felt weird in this store. I entered with my boyfriend and our 2 children to grab some protein bars & bottled water for our hike as well as some Tums for my son's heartburn. The owner (I assume) was leaning on a display completely blocking an entire area of the store while chatting with another man and he watched us like hawks. He was loudly discussing business, traffic, weather RIGHT IN OUR WAY! Nothing in the store has a pricetag, we couldn't figure out what anything would cost. I attempted to ask the talker for assistance and he ignored us so I old my family to put it all back and we'd drive to a different store. I stopped by Krausers on my way home to purchase a grinder. The person who is responsible for making sandwiches was completely disgruntled. I ordered (#4) The Italian and when I told him what I wanted, which included oil and vinegar on the side - obviously so the bread doesn't get soggy - he gave me the most annoyed look he could make. Then he decided to repeat back my order wrong, but said mayo instead of what I requested. After he made the sandwich, I had to request oil and vinegar again, which he obviously paused and waited for, so he had a window to make an unprofessional comment. Whoever hired him needs to be fired, and he needs to find another industry to ruin. The kitchen life is not...
