Hamilatte in Hamilton, NJ is exactly the kind of local café every town needs. The name alone is a fun, clever nod to the area, and that kind of personal touch carries through the whole experience. Unlike the cookie-cutter feel of big chain coffee shops, this place has character and charm. It’s independently owned, which means it isn’t just another robotic, overdone franchise. Instead, it’s a spot with a unique vibe and a real sense of community.
One of the best things about Hamilatte is the attention to vegan and health-conscious options. It’s refreshing to walk into a coffee shop that actually cares about offering alternatives beyond just almond milk. Their menu has a solid mix of plant-based choices that don’t feel like an afterthought.
The atmosphere is another huge plus. The music is always mellow—just the right kind of background noise to either chat with friends or put in headphones and get some work done without distractions. It’s a place that invites you to stay, not just grab your drink and go.
The coffee selection is where they really stand out. They offer some unique blends, including mushroom coffee, both as a standalone and in mixes. It’s not something you see everywhere, and it’s a cool option for those looking for something different. If there’s one area that could use a little improvement, it’s the tea selection—it’s not bad, but it could be more diverse.
Overall, Hamilatte is a gem. It’s welcoming, laid-back, and proof that locally owned coffee shops bring something special to a town that...
Read moreI REALLY want to like this place, but I've been 5x since they opened and it's not getting better. I love the atmosphere and the location and I love that we have a local coffee shop here in Hamilton, but it's just not good, yet. I will not be giving up, so I will be going again and will revise/review again.
First issue is ordering. The staff seem to be new every single visit and have trouble inputting the orders correctly. I expect this would improve over time. Orders we received were correct, but to another's point, most "sweet" drinks are too sweet and do not taste of any espresso. I ordered a regular drip coffee once right at opening and they were not prepared with any coffee available and it was truly awful once I got it. The pastries are not made in house and only fresh half the time we've gotten them. They are labeled now; our first few trips they were not and staff was unaware what was even in the case. The best part is the place itself. It's very cozy and inviting with lots of seating inside and an outdoor space with tons of potential (needs a bit more seating, maybe a fire pit for cooler weather?). They also have late hours, which is nice-- although opening a bit earlier on the weekends would be better.
Overall, this place is a bit hit or miss, and it shouldn't be at this point. I really hope they get it together because I would absolutely be here more often. Just a bit more staff training will...
Read moreWent to this cute venue for the music...stayed for the coffee ☕🎶 Got two super cute heart shaped macaroons (strawberry was my fav!) and an iced Valentine's special latte. The baristas were wonderful, super friendly and helpful! The food and coffee were excellent!! My friend tried the lavender coffee and raved about it!! We were having such a nice time I decided to try a hot drink and the girls suggested the biscoff (?) Cookie latte which was amazing!! I decided to try something savory and got the spinach/ cheese empanada, which was pretty good! Another friend tried the tiramisu and enjoyed it!! The music was awesome...perfect spot to sit and listen and enjoy coffee with friends, or solo. Plenty of seating. Only real negative is that the parking lot is dark and the sign isn't well lit, so very easy to miss this place at night. There is also no location tag set up for social media and the website needs to be updated ASAP... (Contact me if you need help with your socials...). Make sure you check this place out. Open mic will be every third Saturday, so if you're a...
