Terrible Management do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This woman should not be supported. Have been ordering/eating at this cafe for 4+ years. After my last experience there I will not be returning. Placed an order over the phone for two salads and instructed to put the sauce on the side. When I was reviewing my receipt on my way home from picking up my meals I realized I was charged to put the sauces on the side for a total of almost $3 extra that I was not informed of. The prices here are quite high for the portions you get to begin with and if I was informed I was going to be charged extra to put sauces that already come with the meal on the side (which I have never heard of from another restaurant) I would have chosen otherwise. I called and asked to speak with a manager. The owner comes on the phone and the ridiculous phone conversation ensues. She explains that they have always charged for sauce on the side, doesn't apologize that it wasn't mentioned while ordering, just states that she didn't take the order. I mention that I have been a customer of hers since she was at her original location at the Hamilton Marketplace to which she replies "that wasn't the first location this one was". No thank you for being a continuing customer for so many years etc. After much back and forth I suggest that she refund the order and then recharge me without the extra sauce charge on there to which she still has an issue with bc she has to pay credit card fees. In the end she made me so upset I demanded she refund my order because of the way she continued to talk and argue with me. Her response "I'm not sure if you've been having a bad day..." I've never been spoken to by any business owner the way she did. Unfortunately the way she's running things she will be out of business soon I can guarantee that. Another note, she always had the sweetest workers working for her and I found out that she takes all the tips they receive and claims them for herself. I couldn't believe that at first but I heard it more than once. My Dad used to give the girls $20 tips during the holidays for our small orders so this came as a complete shock. Stay away and I will be telling all my...
Read moreSo, I haven't been in in a while because the quality of the food in my opinion really diminished. Decided to try it again. This place used to be rockin!! Something happened! I believe they are remodeling but it looks so dreary in there and everything looks not so clean like it used to be. I ordered a simple bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a twist roll and home fries...to go. I asked for the bacon to be well done. Opened it up, the eggs were running all over the sandwich, when I ordered medium well fried eggs and there were 2 tiny measly pieces of thin undercooked bacon! I must have said "CRISPY BACON", 10,000 times. And as usual, the home fries were raw. (As other reviewers noted.) I literally had to recook them because they were hard as a rock in the middle. They are always undercooked! If you can't cook these slices right then why don't you cut them up a little bit so that they cook better for you. In my opinion, it's time for a change. Get better home fries, get better bacon, get better rolls, change it up a little bit. It needs to be refreshed. When I was waiting for my food, I heard another table complaining about some of their order. I don't mind paying higher prices for a specialty cafe but at least show me some bacon, cook my food properly and make me feel like I'm getting my moneys worth. I just think it's time for a change, refresh this menu, do something different, change up the home fries cause you can't cook them properly and give people some bacon on their sandwiches... I want to always love and support you but lately it's been the same old story with not so great food. Believe me, if I wasn't already home, I would have brought those home fries back and made one of you bite into them to see if you even would eat one! You wouldn't, trust me. I literally threw my entire breakfast in the garbage I was so mad. Please listen to your reviews! I want...
Read moreI love this place. I've been coming since they opened, and I've never been disappointed. My favorite breakfast sandwich is the Desi Buster. It's delicious, and it's more than enough for breakfast. My favorite lunch sandwich is the Grilled Salmon. It's served on a pretzel roll that's AMAZING, with a delicious caper mayo. It's so good that I've had it for lunch, then gone back to have it for dinner, then gone back the next day to have it for lunch again. Everyone is pleasant, there's always delicious iced and hot coffee in both plain and a flavor. (I hate flavored coffee, but the toasted coconut surprised me.)
I find one of the other reviews on here puzzling. She writes that the food is poor, but fails to elaborate on HOW it was poor. She calls the prices "insane." There's not a single menu item over $6.99. I'm not sure what kind of fast food joints this person is accustomed to, but 6.99 for a turkey and brie sandwich? For a grilled (to order, no less) salmon sandwich on a fresh-baked pretzel roll (which I may or may not have had for dinner again tonight)? There are no details that indicate that this person has actually eaten here. (Usually a restaurant review includes something about what you ate, and what you did or didn't like about it.)
The rest of the review is a bunch of rudeness, which is not helpful at all. And when I click on the person's name, I see that this is their only review, and the only activity under this account. Classy.
I love Jersey Girl Cafe, and have sent friends here who have gone on to send THEIR friends here. The food is unique, delicious, and well priced. The staff is friendly and will make recommendations if you're stuck, and they remember your name, which is...
