I really wanted to love this place — the reviews looked great, and we were big fans of Illiano’s. But unfortunately, our experience was super disappointing. We had a 7pm reservation last Thursday for a party of 8 celebrating our parents’ birthdays (three of them!). We weren’t seated until 7:30pm, which was totally fine since a couple of us were about 10 minutes late. Once we sat down, we all commented on how nice the renovations were — the space and vibe were great. Between my partner (who’s a former chef from Philadelphia/Main Line restaurants) and myself (I worked in restaurants for almost 10 years), we don’t have unrealistic expectations — just the basics: good service, decent timing, and consistency. Apps were fine - we got the fried mozzarella, antipasto board, and table-side Caesar. The Caesar was a little heavy on the Dijon, but overall, not bad. The main issues were the wait time and one entrée. While apps came out in a timely manner, our entrées took an hour and a half — we didn’t get our food until 9:30pm. During that time, not once did the server, manager, or owner stop by to apologize or even acknowledge the delay. She refilled our wine, that was about it. The manager/owner was walking around all night, clearly saw our table, and still said nothing, which was really disappointing. Two of us ordered the Rigatoni Vodka — both with a chicken cutlet, one with burrata. Mine was honestly awful. Way too spicy or heavy on chili oil (you could literally see the oil pooling on the plate). It was so late by then, I didn’t bother sending it back because I didn’t have it in me to wait any longer. I ate maybe a quarter of it and felt sick the next day — my own fault for forcing it. The same dish ordered by the other person was perfectly fine — so super inconsistent. My partner got the Positano Coast dish which was just ok, lacking the potential and the portion was small compared to everyone else's. Not a big complain, just a call out. By that point, everyone was tired, over it, and just wanted to go home. Most of us took our food to-go. I tried to fix mine up the next day and ended up tossing my $44 meal in the trash. We were all pretty bummed because we really wanted to love it. But between the wait, lack of acknowledgment from staff, and inconsistent food, we all agreed we probably won’t be back — especially with so many great Italian spots in...
Read moreThe experience of Scarpelli Hammonton is second to none when it comes to Italian eatery. I went out with my girlfriend and a couple of her friends, and needless to say this was an experience that was absolutely incredible.
Coming into the restaurant we were greeted with a warm welcoming from their front door staff as well as ownership. You immediately get a glimpse of the overall physical atmosphere and the dim lighting as well as the tree ambience provided a modern scene to a restaurant that presents itself well as traditional.
We sat down and ordered our drinks and they all came out at a really timely manner. The wine selection is really good with reasonable prices per glass and per bottle, and the list of cocktails available at the bar is diverse and gives plenty of customers a good set of options to choose from.
For our shareables that we ordered, we selected the garlic parm french fries which were unique in how they were prepared. Essentially, the fries were seasoned with rosemary, parmesan, garlic as well as lemon which was unique for the nature of that food item. The flavors of what was prepared on top of those fries came out to be incredible despite the uniqueness. It was a combination that just worked perfectly.
For the entree, we ordered the chicken parmesan, The Italian American and the Sunday gravy. For the purpose of this review I want to hone in on the Sunday gravy since this was a dish that reminds me of childhood. The sauce was perfectly balanced in flavor, the meatballs were made flawlessly, and the chicken parm blended with the sauce and the garnish came together perfectly. It's a dish that will remind anybody of a Sunday afternoon or evening at home during crisp fall day watching football.
For our dessert my girlfriend I split the cookie and ice cream. This was a dessert item that came together amazingly as the cookie was thick like a cookie cake but still have the texture of a homemade baked cookie, and the vanilla ice cream served as a good compliment to it.
Overall, this was an extremely satisfying and rather perfect experience at an Italian restaurant and this is definitely worth a place to go out to on a Friday or Saturday evening. This is a new restaurant that I along with several others that have been in this place can foresee lasting a very long time satisfying a lot of people...
Read moreFinally made my way to this gem and it did not disappoint. The ambiance, service and staff were TOP TIER! You can truly tell that the owners took their time with every single detail from the silverware, to the toilet paper holder. Yes that detailed lol. The food and cocktail menu options were also very carefully thought of and tasted incredible. Do not skip out on the table side appetizer experience. We did the scallops and they were cooked very well. For my entree, I went with the Veal Milanese and It was amazing! Make sure to add the burrata to it. While it gives upscale vibes, not pretentious at all so you can come dressy or casual. Perfect for date night, dinner with friends, birthday celebration and even for those of us who like the occasional solo dinner. We had the best server Analise who was a doll! Took care of us the whole night and made sure we enjoyed our experience and even made excellent recs when asked. Management is very present as you would expect with a re-launch of a restaurant, but even they were very personable making sure we were happy with our experience. Overall, you will not be disappointed. I will definitely...
