Wok N Roll — Restaurant in Hammonton

Update: Sept 2024 It seems that there are new owners/cooks as of 2-3 months ago. The menu items are the same, they are just cooked a little different (slight recipe changes). The last time we got orange beef, they shrunk the portion size by about 20%.

The lo mein isn’t the same flavor (before they always used ginger paste to flavor), now it’s bland. The yang chow fried rice tastes about the same (more roast pork pieces, less fried egg pieces and they removed the imitation crab). The general tso- the chicken is battered slightly different (some pieces are chewy), thinner watery sauce, and less broccoli.

The prices have also increased and the changes vary by item, the range of increase is $3-4. The online ordering options have also changed. Most items now have a small or large size when it used to not be that way, it was one set size. You also have to pay online when you order instead of paying in store (which is fine and I understand).

Changed my rating from 5 to 2. Will be going elsewhere for chinese american food.

——————————————————————— Previous review from 2023: Have tried many Chinese take out places in the immediate and surrounding area and this is one of our go to spots (have been going here since 2015 when it was under the former ownership (Dynasty Chinese restaurant) and when they changed ownership to their current name). Reasonable prices and large portions.

Have tried many items from the menu but I’d recommend the orange beef or chicken, their fried rice, and the pork fried dumplings. Their house special soup is also good- a bit bland, but I add seasoning...

Their food tastes decent and honestly tastes pretty good but every time I get the shrimp and broccoli will not every time it tastes very good but I've gotten sick I would say out of seven times I threw up three times and I'm the only one that has gotten sick but I'm also the only ones that has gotten the shrimp and broccoli and I will tell you what is very dirty inside. I'm not sure but it seems like they make up the prices as they go because it's always an even number and it doesn't matter what you get it's always just like around it off to like an even number it's just strange and when they do deliver their only like a mile away from me and they never get the address right I have to stand outside and wave them down even though they've been here a ton of times. But like I said the food does taste good and there's not many Chinese restaurants in Hammonton to get good food. Or there may be one place that has decent sushi and stuff but it's very expensive and honestly I don't know how good it is it's just very not very modern and doesn't seem to ever be this is a different place in Hammonton that I'm talking about that it's been around for a long time. I know the food is expensive but I don't know how good it is and I know that one of the owners is a major drug addict so I just stay away...

Let me preface this by saying I don’t write reviews for food often.

After a long day at work (13 hours) I placed a relatively small order for myself. I got a Boneless Spare Rib combo with a side of cheese wonton. I placed the order at around 9:30pm and the restaurant closed at 10pm. Instead of turning me away, the young lady on the phone told me that she would be more than happy for me to try their food and the time didn’t matter.

I arrived at 9:50, ten minutes before they closed. The family working there was extremely nice and welcomed me with open arms. I told them I haven’t had their food yet and they told me to try it. They told me if I didn’t like it, they would remake it to my standard. I looked around and the restaurant was clean and welcoming

The food was a 10/10 and I eat A LOT of Chinese food. The pork fried rice was AMAZING and the boneless spare ribs were juicy and plentiful. I could taste the oil was fresh, and not re-used. The cheese wonton was homemade and fresh.

The best part is the food is CHEAP. I thought I was going to spend more coming here!!!! The employees are all family and SUPER nice.

If you’re in Hammonton this restaurant is a MUST. After eating here, check out the blueberry fields!
