My fiance and I had a delightful evening at Bacco, and we can't wait to go back! From start to finish, our experience was exceptional.
We were warmly greeted by Tina, who promptly seated us at our reserved table for two at 5:45. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a romantic evening.
The menu offered a tempting selection, and we decided on the bacon wrapped scallops, field greens salad with shrimp, and two pizzas. My fiance absolutely loved the Quattro Gusti pizza, recommended by Tina, while I thoroughly enjoyed the Carne pizza with hot soppresata and prosciutto, topped with extra pepper flakes for a spicy kick. What's more, Tina informed me that the Carne pizza wasn't on the menu, but it was available upon request—truly a hidden gem!
The service was outstanding throughout the evening, and we even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Max, who took the time to chat with us. It was a personal touch that made our experience even more special.
Despite being tempted by the dessert menu, the generous portions left us feeling satisfied, and we ended up taking some leftovers home. The overall quality of the food and the warm hospitality we received make us eager to return, perhaps to try out their Harrisburg location next time.
Thank you, Bacco, for a wonderful dining experience. We highly recommend this pizza and wine bar to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a memorable...
Read morethis review is for the old Gettysburg pike location. an absolute cluster _uck of a dining experience! we arrived on time for our reservation, no table available (certainly not a big deal) - we'll have a drink at the bar. 1) bartender rather grumpy 2) rose' wine on menu but they have none 3) hostess? comes to the bar to ask if we're waiting for a table - yep we're the same people you just asked to wait at the bar 5 mins ago 4) our table is now ready and we ask the hostess if we can move our bar tab to the table - yes is the answer but 2 mins after being seated, a third person is acting like we're dining and dashing and insists that we pay at the bar. of course after we originally told the bartender about separate tabs, it's all on one bill and it's $70 for 2 draft beers a cider and a GLASS of wine.... she charged us for and entire bottle! after a few rounds of credit card charges and cancellations, she finally got it right. On to dinner.... the saga continues with not great service and very mediocre food. Oh, and, throughout the entire experience, we heard "we've only been open for 3 weeks" at least 5 times from various people. shouldn't this be the service / food you get maybe on week 1? what have you been perfecting?... absolutely nothing is the answer to my own question. Just...
Read moreWe came here for a special occasion — my cousin’s birthday — and unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired.
First, they were already out of 4 of their 6 white wines and Diet Coke, and it was only 6 pm. The wine selection that was available was extremely limited and poorly presented, with tacky labels that didn’t inspire much confidence. We ended up ordering a Cabernet, which is normally something I enjoy, but it was unpleasant and not worth the price.
The service was another disappointment. Our waitress lacked social awareness and loudly asked how many plates we would need for the surprise birthday cake we brought, completely ruining the surprise. On top of that, they charged $1 per plate to serve the cake — a move that feels absurd for Central PA, not a high-end New York restaurant.
We also had to ask multiple times for more napkins, which shouldn’t be a challenge at any restaurant. The food itself was just okay. The gnocchi tasted like it had been frozen beforehand, rather than freshly made, and nothing else on the table really stood out.
Overall, between the paltry wine selection, underwhelming food, inattentive service, and nickel-and-diming for something as simple as plating a birthday cake, this was not the celebratory dinner we had hoped for. We...
