So I went here with my 4 yr old. He opted for Mac n cheese and broccoli for dinner. Got the food pretty quick, it was your typical diner food as expected. To get my kid to eat broccoli I have to peel little pieces off at a time for him and make it a game. I finished my dinner and my kid had to go to the restroom. We weren't gone more than 5 min and our table had been cleared when we came out, no big deal, I understand it probably looked like we left. The staff offered to get my kid a new order of Mac n cheese to go since he'd only eaten half. PERFECT! Except when they brought it out I had the sneaking suspicion that they took the food they'd cleared already and put it into a container. I took it and left deciding I'd check it at home. Sure enough when I got home and checked all of those peeled pieces of broccoli I'd peeled off for my kid were there. It was the same food they'd cleared from the table while we were in the restroom. Normally I'm not a picky person and I've literally only ever left one review before and that was a 5 star, but you don't clear a table, take the food back to where all the other dirty dishes and stuff are and then bring it back out and hand it to my kid. I don't know what that food came into contact with back there, if you put other dirty dishes on top of it etc. I'm not mad that the table was cleared when we were in the bathroom, but if you offer a fresh order of Mac n cheese to make up for it, then do it. Overall it ruined the visit. Just gave an overall...

Edited.. As i watched the ownership and management grind employees into the dirt....i was a servers ride to work n back omfor tge whole 13 montgs and what a shame the owner cant manage ppl... Lost Ari, the best thing they had as a server..now they deleted reviews by a google reviewers out of spite when she left..pretty PETTY MARK! My Original visit as stated in the review here was fantastic! Left a 5star....that was 1.5 years ago. Since then, a follow up or two were decent at best. My most recent 5 or 6 visits have been ok as I requested a certain server friend of mine knowing my service would be fantastic, n yes it was, but the food was merely ok. N then, the Last 3 visits someone and somethings missing! My Order was messed up 2x, food cooked incorrectly n it was quite a wait during non peak hours. It's a shame that this establishment loses so many great servers n hosts due to poor operations/management/owner! In the end, she was treated so poorly, she literally walked out one day without a word after a year and a half with them kling it. Lokking on here, she the only server at that store to get 4 5star unsolicited reviews, all within a month. I know Quite a few other great personnel have moved on for most of the same reasons. Service n atmosphere is "too businesslike" now with No dining EXPERIENCE here, just a food joint...

My wife and I have loved this place since it opened. Go there at least once a month. Unfortunately, it looks like things are going down hill as most other restaurants do, and end up failing. Went in last week with my son and where seated at 1:50 pm. It was less than half full, yet it took 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us after being seated. My wife and I went in last night and where seated at 7:50 pm, 1 other couple was there and on their way out. The waiter was more concerned with closing than waiting on us(Took 5 minutes for waiter and 5 more to get our drinks). My wife ordered chipped beef and you could tell by looking at it, that the cream was curling. 5 minutes into eating, my wife said it tasted bad. Had to flag down our waiter, that I had already ask to bring me extra napkins when he brought our food, but he was more concerned about talking to other staff than waiting on us. Very discouraged and hoping that this is a fluke and not the future of the diner. You would think that they would have offered a free drink or 10% off or something, but no. Needless to say, we won't be going back for a while. Really hope they get it...

Stopped here from out of town. Got the veggie omelette, cinnamon roll pancakes, and chicken and waffles. All of it was great..the portion sizes are gigantic too. The wait staff was nice and welcoming..the layout was nice, the tables aren't too close to each other. I'd come again if back in the area. Edit: I just wanted to update. It's been 2 years and my husband is STILL talking about this place. That should tell you everything. We've tried versions of the chicken and waffles at other restaurants, hoping to relive that magic, but nothing has ever come close. There's just something about the way that Metro diner does it. Especially that hot honey drizzle. Completely unmatched. They've got a menu full of comfort food and fun toys on the classics. Where else can you get a cinnamon roll pancake and a solid veggie omelette in the same sitting? I almost want to come back to Harrisburg just to come here again.

Disappointed this morning. I had a $30 gift card that I had received. I decided to visit Metro Diner this morning by myself. I ordered an omelet, and a cup of coffee. My total came to $15.48. One would assume that I would've received a restaurant credit for the remaining $14.52 that was not used. This didn't happen. When I inquired about this to the server, she told me that "they don't do that". I have never in my life experienced a situation where an establishment (brick & mortal or e-commerce) keeps the remaining money that is not spent. Even if the diner would've been transparent with me before taking the gift card and stated to me, "hey, we're going to keep the remaining balance, are you sure you want to use this today?" - I would've gladly paid in cash, and used the card some other time. I feel that this practice is deceitful.

Not a bad place for a diner franchise that hasn't NOT had a wait since it opened three weeks ago. We opted to sit at the bar which gave us a hibachi style view of the kitchen which, despite the uncomfortable round, backless seating with no place to rest your feet, made for an entertaining lunch. Not a bad spot to be if you're not interested in having conversation with your lunch date. For the record, I think this is a courageous set-up, and perhaps naively, I felt the food was safer to eat. The menu is loaded with comfort foods. I had a crispy chicken club with provolone cheese and my lunch date had the classic two egg breakfast with home fries. The food was very good, though a little on the pricy side for diner fare, ($25 minus tip) but we will probably be back anyway.
