Monte Cello's | Hampton — Restaurant in Hampton Township

We've been going to this Monte Cellos for years. Past couple of times have been...meh. We go because it's close, and we hope for the best. However, this last time is the last time for awhile. I got Spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce. The sauce tasted like tomato juice with bits of tomato in it. More like V8 juice with noodles. Sauce was not thick at all. Hardly any meat in the sauce. $17 dollars for a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. I expect better especially from an Italian restaurant. This definitely wasn't Grandma's sauce recipe. I would have been better off with a jar of Ragu and a box of $1 spaghetti noodles. In fairness the meatballs were ok, as was my Wife's meal. Also, they did take $5 off the meal. We are just tired of the hit or miss quality that we have been getting at Monte Cellos and this is why we give it 3 stars. Just go and hope for the best. It's not like there are a dozen other Italian restaurants...

We have ate at Monte Cello's in Hampton for years. About 1 1/2 years ago we had an "incident" where $30.00 was "mysteriously" added to our bill. I didn't notice the "mysterious" $30.00 until I got home however I returned the following day with my receipt and I was refunded the $30.00. We didn't go back for a year. Six months ago we started back eating at Monte Cello's. Last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. I have no issues with the food or prices, it's the staff. Our waitress was rude and EVERYTHING seemed to be a bother to her while the other waitress spent more time carrying her baby around the restaurant. I thought we were on a hidden camera show, that's how bad it was. Hampton does not have an overabundance of sit down restaurants. It's shameful that I have one less to pick from. Update I am pleased to say that this Monte Cello's location is continuing to pump out great Italian dishes and friendly service. During our most recent visit, my Mom had the spaghetti and meatballs and I had the roasted red pepper soup and the baked ziti with meat sauce. All delicious!

Classic, old-school Italian Restaurant that's perfect for dining with family, friends and kids. Long standing establishment with a tried and true menu. All of the classic Italian specialties, pizza and hoagies are available. I have never had a bad meal here and I've been here probably ten times!
