Food was fine but nothing special.
Service: We got there and were told to wait despite empty tables and multiple staff walking around. Definitely seems like a small family run place which isn't a bad thing but this one did lack a lot of efficiency. We had a young man waiting on us but what was odd was the other servers around him would mutter responses to him when we asked questions or tried to make conversation during our order.
I ordered the sweet potato hash bowl and my partner ordered the western omelet and we got a table pancake.
The sweet potato hash was good because it had bacon bits in it but they forgot the cheese I ordered on my eggs and there was spinach mixed into the bowl but not cooked which seemed odd.
The veggie omelet lacked flavor and was overfilled with caramelized onions. Finally the pancake was good but a little more fluffy than my preference. We ordered the real maple syrup and it wasn't enough to cover the pancake.
This place isn't bad, but there are many options in the area that have better...
Read moreThere is a decent variety of food choices for even a picky eater. A group of us were there for breakfast recently. The food was good basic breakfast foods, and they have one dish that is really hard to find up here unless you cook at home, and that's grits. Their grits are the real thing, not instant grits you put in the microwave. These are the real deal - cooked in a pot on the stove and I was thrilled to find those up here! They were perfectly delicious! The only complaint most at our table had was that you get just one slice of toast cut in half. None of us had ever eaten out for breakfast where you're only served one slice of toast. That's minor complaint, however it's really unusual to get just one slice of toast at a restaurant with breakfast.
Prices seemed a bit high for breakfast, but most things are too high these days. Nice clean restaurant, good service, and something yummy on the menu...
Read moreWhat a wonderful option for those of us who love to go out to breakfast. (Sorry, Airport Cafe, you are now my number 2 choice for breakfast.) Ginger and Clove has a softly modern, carefully cleaned, and spacious dining room. The staff is welcoming, personable, attentive, and committed to customer satisfaction, and the food is delicious. I actually have fallen in love with grits! ( The loaded grits are good but the basic grits are great.) The sausage gravy is homemade and the best I have had since I was in Georgia.
Prices are certainly reasonable and competitive. ( Have to get that in)
The vegetables in their omelets are wonderfully fresh and prepared perfectly. The cook knows how to poach an egg...that is a rare skill. I can't wait to try their homemade hash and lunch menu. If your deserve a treat today...and you do...enjoy the fare at Ginger...
