Update:.. 1-22-24
We haven't ordered from this place. In a long time. I sent my husband to get a rice and gravy and 2 egg rolls. I am very ill with a fever if 104°. Once again the owner was rude when I called her and told her she gave us sauce and not gravy. She said she told "her".. there was no her. Husband male. Once again she was rude and wanted to argue. I will say the food is very good but the atmosphere and this owner are absolutely horrid. So much so she hung up on me of course I'm upset because she wanted to argue with me. My husband said gravy not SAUCE.. UNTIL THIS OWNER IS NO LONGER THE OWNER WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING BACK TO THIS HORRIBLE RESTAURANT
This is the third time I've been at this restaurant in the last 2 months. They have a young boy working at the counter that can't seem to get the orders right so then the owner comes out and gives the customer a hard time. Today I ordered a beef from broccoli with beef and broccoli only and a traditional egg foo young the owner brings out the egg foo young (that was made incorrectly) the young boy states HE THOUGHT I did not want onions... Although I never stated that. I only AKSED what was in their EFY. The young boy then asked if I wanted a new one and the answer was yes. At this point I never got upset or got angry. Then the owner comes out and says..It's only a little bit of onion. I stated I never asked for the EFY to be altered. She made the EFY. Then came out as with the container open saying, "it's.. it's right it's right" !!! I told her it was fine. Then out of the clear blue she says to me "don't go out the door and come back in" It was a completely UNNECESSARY comment. Then I became agitated. There was absolutely no reason for her to be so nasty. I came in in a good mood the young man again gets the order wrong and then I get blamed and she has an attitude with me. From now on I'll go to the Chinese restaurant on Armistead by the 7-Eleven. They've never messed up my order they're always kind and polite and always offer free soda or free egg rolls for the amount of money I...
Read moreI've been going there for years. I typically only buy Beef and Broccoli, Garlic Chicken, or Hot and Spicy Chicken. The veggies are always cooked well (aren't overcooked or old and wilted), and the sauce isn't light and not thick, oily, and gravy like.
This is my favorite strip mall Chinese food place out of them all in the Hampton Roads area, and I've eaten at dozens over the decades....
I also seen negative comments about the lady behind the counter. While she's not talkative and hospitable, she's not rude, unpleasant, or unprofessional in my experience and watching her interactions with others. She takes your order and hands it to you just without all the extra fakeness that some want and need while at restaurants. She's never given me a reason to think I'll of her.
Prices are respectable, and have only gone up $2 +/- from their pre Covid pricing. That's not bad especially when taking into consideration that the cost of food, supplies, utilities, rent, and other overhead cost has risen...
Read moreI honestly don’t know what all the one star reviews are about. My wife and I just went here, got the family bundle with 2x orange chicken and 2x fried rice. The order came out to be around 29.50, with a 5.50$ was 35.00.
This food is the best we ever tasted in the Hampton area and we’ve been to a decent amount of restaurants in this area. I think the traffic from Langley should come here for lunch to get food since it’s close by to the base.
The food is amazing, fried rice was cooked exactly right and the orange chicken had a kick but was very crispy and very good. The white steamed rice was even better. As kids would say these days the food was “bussin” aka amazing. We would totally eat here again and will.
For the people on the edge of eating here and not, don’t look at the one star reviews and give it a shot. I promise it won’t be a let down.
Thank you Shun Xing for the terrific food, we can’t wait to be back...
