Fantastic Subs — Restaurant in Hamtramck

... ... Really bad experience in this place, never again! I usually don't write reviews, but for the bad service I found here I'm compiled to do so. I've been to many places which sells Yemeni sweets in the U.S. and even in Yemen, and so far this place here I had the worst costumer service. They give false promises and aren't considerate for the costumers. Some friends residing in Michigan recommended I try this place. I drove more than 20 minutes to buy what I want before I catch a flight later in the day.

When I arrived they told me they are baking the sweets. They said they would have it ready for me within 30 minutes. I placed the order. They even took my phone number so they could call me when it is ready. I waited more than 30 minutes (exactly 50 minutes), but they didn't call. So I called & I found out they didn't prepare my order. The same individuals I spoke with earlier then said we may still be able to do it for you, but then asked for the quantity again to see whether it is worth serving me (this is even when they already have the order written down earlier) and they didn't have anything of it displayed for sale. After I told them the order again, they then outrightly declined and said "they don't have it today" (just like that). This while noting I've a very professional conversation and so patience, but they didn't know how to deal with costumers.

My order was for me and for friends in New York. With the way they treat costumers with back and forth and with lies, they disappointed me, my friends in NY and the friends in Michigan who recommend to go to try this place. I'm sorry I went to this place. If I knew, or if even, they told me from the beginning they will not make it or don't have it, I would have went to other places to buy what I want. I should not have trusted the people in this store. Henceforth, if I can't trust them with service, I can't trust them with something I eat.

I ended up flying without what I want. I learned there are other places with better service that makes Yemeni sweets, including a new place called Qahwa House in Detroit. I would go to any other place where costumers are...

The new cook they have is cheap on everything. One slice of bacon, a half slice tomato on any burger we ordered. Salads he cuts the tomatoes so thin they are transparent, and only a few crescent shaped cut onions, on the fish sandwiches he throws mayonnaise on one corner of bun and no cheese at all on any of them. The phylly cheese steaks were so lousy and not even the same amount of meat they used to put. incompetent wannabe grill cook, i miss the old grill master so much now, he's the reason me and my friends and bros used to get grub from their all the time, this new guy is a dishwasher not a grill cook. Bring back the old dude, bring him back or you lost my business for good, ill just come and get shakes from you guys and fries. This new guy sucks big time. After breaking fast during Ramadan you expect a great experience when eating outside. This guy needs to go, probably never worked as a grill cook his whole life until now. Unreal, if they weren't my country men i would throw the food he made us at his greasy face. Only gave 2 stars for the other dudes who are cool in their, the chef...

Exceptional food and service! It's hard to stand out in Hamtramck with all the incredible varieties of food on display, but Fantastic Subs stands out as a gem despite all the elite competition around the city.

I had a large carry-out order for 15 people so I came in the day prior to let DJ and the crew know about our big order. They were generous enough to discount our order because it was so large and even gave me a free mango lassi which was delicious. The next day when I picked up the order, they bagged every person's order individually and wrote everyone's name on each bag. It was a nice, personal touch that made all of our job's easier. The most important part of all is that everyone went home happy because the food was nothing short of exceptional. I'll add one more thing: we gave everyone in our group of 15 a $10 budget. $10 does not go very far in a lot of places, but at Fantastic Sub's that $10 provided enough food for two meals for everyone.
